Freaktacular Secret Santa 2015​

I know it's a bit early, but let’s get this going! I don’t want this to be stressful for anyone—there’s already a lot going on for people this time of year—but there need to be some ground rules.

If you say you’re going to participate THEN PARTICIPATE. If anyone gets a gift and doesn’t send one then I’m personally banning them from any contests I hold here. I’ll also announce it in the Freaktacular thread so everyone knows you didn’t reciprocate. We didn't have a problem last year so let's not start now.

Gift value of around $20. If you want to surprise someone with more then that’s your prerogative—I’m sure the lucky person won't complain.

Send your gift so it will be received before Christmas, and we can all post what we got starting Christmas day.

Send me a PM with:

1. Your name and shipping address.

2. State whether or not you will send a gift overseas (one way to avoid overseas shipping costs may be to buy something directly from that country’s Amazon website and have it ship from there).

3. Include an license/character of interest just to give your Secret Santa an idea of what you like--this doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed anything related to it but for those that want the information they’ll have it.

When I get a PM, I’ll add your name to the list and keep it updated in the Freaktacular thread.


Let me know you want to participate by Tuesday, 12/1/2015. You’ll get paired up and information sent to you before the weekend. Gifts will probably need to be sent by around 12/15-12/17 at the latest to make sure they get there by Christmas.

Updated the list. It wouldn't be too hard to get more than last year. I think there were only 7 of us.

Go figure, just got my shipping notice for Han and Chewie! At least, I'm pretty sure it's for them! Either way, two items arriving Monday!

I have to boycott TFA, or it will never end. No Colonel Plasma for me...

I'm all in for everything! My cubicle at work is a giant TFA promotion. I've got posters, POPs, Rey on her speeder, Die Cast Disney Store Rey, 3" Rey, and the Millennium Falcon iHome. Granted, I don't get to push the theme song button on the iHome as much as I initially thought, but still! At least it's a welcoming environment that I spend most of my day in.

Only thing I'm bummed of this new Disney Star Wars thing is how they are retiring Slave Leia. That was literally the greatest thing that happened in my childhood!

I read about that today. I think it's pretty ridiculous, actually. It's part of the storyline...hell, Anakin and his mom were slaves. That's a huge storyline in Phantom Menace. Sure they're not in a bikini, and yeah she clearly looks good in it; but I mean, Jabba lived in the desert! It's like...a costume. Blah, it's just a stupid move that makes no real sense. She's also badass in it, and when she gets the chance she strangles the crap outta one of the biggest gangsters in the universe.

Sure it's just in merchandising, and yeah, pretty much all Slave Leia merchandising has been done in 6" or 3" toys that look like men anyway, but I can't say that I wasn't hoping for an updated Prime 1 Slave Leia. Alas, it looks like it probably isn't meant to be.

I know J. Scott Campbell said the following:

"Daisy Ridley won’t have to fight against anything. Disney is already well on it’s way to wiping out the “slave” outfit from any future products period. You will NOT see and future merchandising featuring the slave outfit ever again. Trust me […] I’ve heard it from two sources. We can’t even draw Leia in a sexy pose at Marvel, let alone in that outfit! We also had a 3-D [Slave Leia] statue killed at a major manufacturer because there will no longer be any [Slave Leia] merchandise."

It all sucks, but it's unfortunate to hear that another statue had been planned.

I'm guessing this may have to do with Fisher bringing up how she wished she'd fought against it, or telling Daisy to fight against having to wear something similar if asked -- which was all silly too.

Can we set some sort of guidelines? For instance, if I say I like Star Wars, there are many things I own already. So can I say "Avoid Hasbro and Funko" because I likely own everything I want from those companies?

I hadn't heard this, but it's stupid... Are schools going to ban reading Huckleberry Finn because it involves slaves? Or is Gone With the Wind going to be banned? It's part of our history, for crying out loud. Slavery existed. Period. It's bad enough that Song of the South may never be seen again...
As for Fisher telling Daisy that, DAMN HER TO HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need Daisy in a bikini ALWAYS, in every film!!!

I picked them up from an online site in Vancouver. There are VERY few places in Canada to pick these guys up to avoid huge pricing; however, this site has now really bumped up their pricing because of our dollar. I think it's still a bit cheaper than directly from Sideshow and paying customs and all, but I have a friend who has someone who can get them, I was just late to the party when PO these guys, so I missed my shot with him. That's who I'll be getting Phasma from though!

Yeah, I haven't watched any trailers, so I have no real idea of who anyone is, but something about Rey just appealed to me. Seems like a badass, so I'm hoping that Hot Toys and Sideshow have a nice selection of pieces when it comes to her! But at the same time, my wallet hopes they don't.

I'd think that you can just make that note when you send the PM. Speaking of, I forgot to leave that part in my PM...my bad Zod!

I think it's a mix of that and just the usual complaints. I know parents were irked about the recent Slave Leia figures being released with the chain around her neck and all. It's all just silly...it's iconic, end of story. There's no "keeping up with the times," like some argue. They don't have to go and do it again if they want to avoid it, but cutting off all forms is silly.

Anything you send to me will get passed on to your Secret Santa. You can put whatever specifics you want for license/character. Ultimately it'll be up to the Secret Santa to decide what they get for you (so no guarantee that you may not get something you already have) but I'd say giving more information is better than just saying "Star Wars".
