Re: Freaktacular 2015

See it would be cool if we could get everyones done and printed as a lot and get it cheaper but they only do that if you get the same thing printed in bunches.

That would be a small fortune. Your talking modeling each character individually, then setting stuff up to make each one by one.

Anyways, most places don't do resin printing. I only know of a few printers that can handle resin, and they aren't cheap. People tend to do ABS prints, clean it up, make a mold, then cast it in resin. For a one-off you're better to just get it done as an ABS print then clean/paint it.

That's an awesome image greygoose! Regardless of if it's ever sculpted, that'll make a great poster or print to hang up! :hi5:

Re: Freaktacular 2015

I finally got to open my Hot Toys Han and Chewie today and they're incredible! Two of my favourite Hot Toys, easily! The improved Han headsculpt is superb, and both of them just look fantastic! I love them, and can't wait to get a new glass shelving unit from Ikea to put these new Star Wars figures in as they start to arrive! They're both just awesome pieces...if anyone is on the fence, I'd highly recommend jumping on board! Once Luke and Leia arrive, a shelf with all four of them on it is going to look amazing!

Let me know how much that works out at. I have no idea when it comes to 3D software but I imagine it's a complex job.

Last year after Veil had done all of these, I researched into getting 3D prints made of them so folks could have their own little avatar statue.

Several online places that will do such printing, but you need to provide them the right kind of 3D image file that the printer will work with. Where the project died was trying to find someone who could take a single 2D image and turn it into a 3D printer file, for a low enough rate where it would be feasible.

I couldn't find anyone, and certainly don't have the skills myself.

If anyone does find someone who can do this, let us all know who it is and what the price per image is. Once you have that image, then you can shop around different 3D printing companies to try to get a good price for printing one or more of them.

I'll pm you the details now. I'm pretty sure the guy who did this for me can do a full 360 digital model. They do animations and stuff like that.

Got the PM GG, sadly my Spanish is non-existant and I couldn't find a link on their site to display an English version.

If you paid 100 pounds for that rendering (sweet though it is), I can't imagine what a full digital model would cost. US$150 is way out of my price range.

It was €100, works out less in £. I couldn't find a translation on their page but if you look at some of their packages they range from €300-€2000+. :panic: :lol

Honestly, if they were already rendered in 3d I could probably convert to printable formats and do ABS prints of them for fairly cheap, depending on size of course. They would need cleaning (Google 3d print with supports) and such though. 2d images don't just convert to 3d, you need to model them from scratch. Unless you just want text bumped out or something, nothing is going to take a flat picture and make it 3d. That's the expensive part.
