If you're actually judging them like a normal movie, you'll always hate them.

Just judge them on the hot chicks, the gore, and Man behind the mask.

A movie is a movie for me, there's no "normal" and "not normal" movie. There's horror, comedy, action and a combination of genres but they're all normal movies for me unlike maybe a documentary such as Planet Earth.

I judged Friday part 7 as a "horror movie" if that's what you meant as a non normal movie?

If I go by your advise on how I should've judged it, then:

Chicks were rancid
The Gore was butchered by MPAA (pun fully intended)
Man behind the mask was as scary as a bunny rabit, regardless that it was Kane Hodder

I was just making an observation on how the new Friday was made more realistic and scarier even though it was using the same character of Jason from the other movies.

I was being nitpicky with the new one until I started to revist the older ones. I can only imagine what Jason X and Jason goes to Hell will bring to the table.

I won't be nitpicky on the new one any longer, they hit a home freaking run!

The original # 1 still kicks ass though.

Thanks for your observations as well...peace...

Jason, aside from the remake, and from part 6 forward, was never supposed to be scary.

Part 7 sucks only because the lack of gore...IMO. But whatevah.

Well, you lost me with that one.....

:confused::confused::confused:

A "horror" movie mass murderer, serial killer and all around destroyer of human life was never meant to be scary?

What was he supposed to be, Abbott and Costello?

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

Yep. Jason was an anti hero by that point. Every one was rooting for him. Hence, not scary.

Hmmm....good point........Jason doing the "Who's on First" routine would be awesome indeed!

What's your opinion on the new one, do you think they succeeded at making him a threatening scary killer again and the audience wanting the characters to live or do you think they went right back into the formula of the audience rooting for Jason to make mince meat of those characters in fun and imaginative ways?

I say a little of both.

In the beginning I felt like he was a new scary threatening Jason not unlike the killers from Strangers but towards the end, he was the same old Jason for me....in my face, shown way to much up front and center with all the scare pretty much gone......although still much much better than the others, where like you said, Jason had become a joke onto himself.

LOL

Ok, then I can see you enjoying the other Fridays much more than I did.

Cool deal, it's all good.

I'll be happy with Friday 1 original and remake. That's enough Jason for me.

That tiny bit of Jason at the end of the original was enough for me to jump out of my seat in the theater in 1980.

:horror:horror:horror

Hmmm, I agree with the badass with the new movie....he certainly was...

I've been practicing since the movie to do a wind up and axe throw the way he did but I keep twisting my ankle and missing and the damn axe keeps going thu my window into the baby room...sheesh.

:D:D:D

For the first time in a loooong time, I was rooting for some of the non-killer characters to live. I wanted them to escape Jason, but when

Jason's head was being put to the woodchipper

I was back to rooting for Jason to make it through. The filmmakers did a great job balancing Jason the monster with Jason the sympathetic mongoloid.

That's just my 2 cents though.

I agree. I wanted Clay, the 2 girls, and the funny asian dude to live.

But if that ment killing the J Man......hell no.

Holy crap,

81% drop for new Friday.

From # 1 movie in America to # 6!

Doh!

Still the highest grossing Friday movie if i'm not mistaken.

It's hovering around 50-55 mil, may even hit 70-80 when March 13th comes around.

Dang...81% drop, that's heavy.

yeah... killing off the last Girl I think was a mistake. Kind of ruined the story that you were hoping for. and when it happened the story was going down hill in the first place. This was the only flick were I actually liked most of the victims.

Man,

I could've swore that this would've been the Friday to finally have brought in all the Grandmothers and Nuns.....sheesh.

Good try anyways.

I saw it twice myself....

I knew it would drop but damn, 81%. I was hoping it would make another $15 million +.
Hopefully it does end up making 70 million.

Well, its not like the original wasnt cheap. Or had good actors anyway.

I really hate this kind of excuse that horror fans use. Why should we just have to settle because the originals didnt have the best actors. Should we, as horror fans, expect less? Dont get me wrong, I had a lot of fun watching the remake, but at the same time, the movie wasnt as cohesive as it should have been. I think they should have played it completely straight and completely campy. I would have preferred it completely played straight because we have seen enough badly acted, stupid morons get killed by Jason.

Dude....its a Friday the 13th movie.....Thats what they are. They'll never change, because thats why people see them. Its like comfort food.

That may be true, but it sucks that after all these years, this is all horror fans can look forward to. Al least Wes Craven tried his hand at taking the camp out of New Nightmare. Although not a total success, it is a very respectable and commendable entry in the franchise.
