When I had my hobbits all I did was put a little mud on the legs and they looked perfect and concealed the seams a bit.

I guess what I am asking is does anyone one know why Side Show didn't cover it the with a type of later or ruber like Hot Toys Rambo or Enterbays Bruce Lee?

Well, those are considerably more expensive figures. The main issue isn't that the seams are there -- it's that they aren't glued together very well. That may just be a manufacturing issue.

Don't forget that rubber or latex deteriorates over time. It's inevitable. It either becomes harder and begins to crack where it bends, or it becomes sticky and liquefies. I shudder to think what all those Rocky figures and Batman suits will look like in 20-30 years' time...

Almost a year since these guys came out.

I am still amazed everytime I look at mine. They are such good figs I can't believe they didn't light a fire under the 1:6 line.

I got my hobbits about a week or two ago and I love them! I noticed that the stand prongs they come with are too long and are meant to go under their armpits. That limits their arm articulation so I just switched their prongs with the HT Jack and Elizabeth's prongs which are much shorter and it works great! One other thing I was a tad disappointed about is that they come with three left hands but only one right hand. The right hand works well when they're holding their swords, but looks a bit odd when their not. The left fist seems a little unnecessary, I wish they would have given us a right open hand instead. Overall I'm extremely happy to own these figures and can only hope that the line is visited once again some day.

I've never really got into any 12" lines before as i'm a statue/PF guy really, and this is the first time i've looked through this thread. And I must say these look awesome!! I am a LOTR collector, but never gave the 12" line a second thought to be honest. But after looking through people's photos here and other 12" LOTR threads, I must say i'm quite tempted :lol

The attention to detail looks phenominal, and the likenesses are quite good as well. I only own one SS 1/6 (Indy), and have Darth Vader on order as well, but I may have to go back and pick these up. I've mostly read positive comments about these figures, but haven't read all of these threads (obviously!). So what's the general consensus about all the LOTR 1/6? Should I try and pick them all up, or just some of them? Which are the best ones? Any ideas would be great, thanks!! :)

If you're a LOTR fan getting into 1/6 scale then the hobbits and Gandalf are a must! As for the rest of the line I don't know what to tell you because I don't own the others but from pictures I can tell that the hobbits and Gandalf are on a whole other level quality wise.

These were my favorite figures of 08' (hobbits) and there were some good figures that came out last year.

I have Gandalf and the hobbits and they are outstanding. Recently I bought Boromir and he is also an awesome figure. So these four are definetely worth picking up imho. Frodo is my fav though:

I agree, that's it's a shame Sideshow isn't continuing this line. LOTR is in my opinion, only the best medieval fantasy films ever made as well as ever written. I am new to this board so I may not have the engineering down pat as far as posting pictures but here are a few of my Frodo and Samwise pictures.
