Funny that most people seem to prefer Frodo over Sam, from the pics I've seen, Sam looks better to me.

I think they are equally outstanding. Sam has more stuff though.
I think Sam is the better, but not by too much, they're just about equal.
I only have Frodo so i can't judge in hand. But by pics Frodo looks better to me, but it don't matter as i just like the character more. I will get Sam soon as he looks great as well.

The silver chain for the ring
In anticipation of my figures arriving this afternoon, I went to my local Michael's craft store this morning to see if they carried any silver chain for the One ring.
From all the pictures I've seen so far that's the one detail that really bugs me about these figures, that chain being the wrong color. It was so clearly silver in the films.
I went to the jewelry/bead isle and viola, they carry the perfect chain, it's about 2 meters long so there is plenty to experiment with, they also have a number of different clasps to use to link the chain together, so I bought a set of those and some larger single gold chain links that I thought might be able to replace the ring itself. After looking at the pictures of the figures again, the single gold links are to small to replace the ring, but the silver chain should work perfectly.
Can't wait for UPS to get here so I can put the ring on it's new chain.
A simple solution and it only cost me about 7 bucks.

got them and they are magnificent!!! no loose joints at all.
sam is definately my favorite. im so glad i finally got a perfect representation of samwise gamgee. he is definately my favorite character from LOTR and the true hero of the story IMO. now i just got to figure out how i wanna pose these guys. i swapped out sams cloak for the elven one but frodos keeping his dark green one on. i think it looks better.
i really want the other 2 hobbits now. i hope they are coming soon and that they turn out as well as this.

Sounds like if the ring won't fit over the new chain then it's much too thick. I'll be looking for a silver chain that's much thinner than the gold one he comes with.
These were posted elsewhere but probably belong here. Anyway, here's a basic chain upgrade for Frodo. It's still not silver, but it looks better than the original one. I'm planning to replace the ring with a metal one, too. Real gold hopefully, so it will "hang" convincingly. Even the plastic ring shows up better using a finer chain, though.

Just got mine yesterday and I loves them! I wish Hot Toys and Sideshow would team up all the time! I love both companies and I see what amazing work they do together! Their cooperation has created truly amazing results! Bravo!!!
