I've found one issue with how the heads are made, the material/paint is prone to that odd splotch as seen in Frodo's production images. I looked at my Frodo under natural lighting and the left side of his face does similar white patched, but it's only under some lighting. Small nit, but something I'd like to see addressed in future figures with the same style.

Some pictures of Sam and Frodo. I like how agile their bodies are. Too bad the ankle joints are weak and don't hold any poses without the stand.

Strange i have no problems without the stand at all and this is just one example.(i've played around with many poses since then)

I found doing my pictures yesterday that my ankles held well, except for Sam once I had all his gear on, he becomes very top heavy and it's a bit more challenging, Frodo's better. The only pose I had to rush the photo with on Frodo was when I had him in the PF figure pose, couldn't find a good balance for long, but it wasn't the ankles, it was distributing the weight on small feet.

I had the same experience... Frodo stands pretty well on his own. But Sam, especially when kitted out doesn't "stand" a chance of not toppling over.

Weird. My Sam is the opposite. His ankles are much tighter and stands with almost no effort.

Anyone else find the wrists on these guys a little loose where the ball joint connects to the forearm?

I do; actually the ankles are pretty fine on both of mine, but it's the wrists that get to me--they aren't just weak--they're loose and floppy. I don't mind since these two won't be in many action poses (not in my collection anyway), but it's sure to be an issue for some.

Though I can't imagine Frodo needing to do any comic-Spiderman poses anyway.
:lol

Do you think the nail polish trick will work? I remember some people mentioning that solution for Anakin's loose arm.

Wow...these sure did take a while to arrive...

From what I've seen, they look pretty damn good...

Can you elaborate, I've never heard of this?

My guess is similar to using superglue... you put a drop on the connector for the loose joint and then after you connect them, work the joint around for a few minutes until there is a thin coat around both ends which helps to tighten them up.

I did it with the Aliens Warrior, and it made a huge difference. Could work probably work for the ankles on the Hobbits.

That sounds like a decent solution. I had to do the same with my Aliens Warriors too, just to keep their feet from constantly falling off!

The ankles on my Frodo are a little loose, but he stands on his own okay, at least for now. The problem seems to lie is in the split leg construction. I believe the legs can be modified to eliminate the crack and tighten the joints at the same time. I don't want to try this on my Exclusives, but a pair of regulars is coming from Alter Ego, so I'm thinking of doing a little hobbit surgery to see if I can't remedy the problem. If the operation is successful, I'll post the results here for anyone who's interested.

You can also try plumbing tape if it is the male part (the peg) of the joint. A bit of this thin flexible tape will tighten the joint right up.

Does anyone else think it's a little odd that they both came with three LEFT hands and only one RIGHT? Unfortunately the right hand is just a little too open to hold the pipe realistically. Would've been nice to have a pipe-holding right hand too... oh well.

One thing both of these guys need is a walking stick! A couple of dried twigs ought to do the job nicely. That should also help them stand up without needing to use those cursed "doll" stands. They look so much better without 'em!

Ya, I think they should have skipped the fist left hand and added another right hand. Unfortunately, Merry and Pippin will probably have the same right hands to recycle the molds and won't be able to hold swords any better than these guys. For display, they hold them alright but it would have been better if the gripped the swords instead of holding them how they do.

Yeah, I think its kind of odd, but still better to have 3 lefts and 1 right then just one of each.
