Congratulations! It's my favorite piece. How did you manage to get a factory sealed one at this point? Must have cost an arm and a leg!

What happened to your repainted one? It looked like you spent a lot of time and love on it.

My first purchase of 2013 has arrived and i couldnt be happier! After missing out the first time when Sideshow released the Mark III bust and then realising it had completely sold out when i first saw pictures of it, i started to think that i would never own this Iron Man Grail piece...and to get it factory sealed and brand new was even more of a result! :yess:

After hearing of many others who had this piece in their collection and the problems they had with it i was happy to see that mine arrived in perfect condition with ultra bright working LED's in the eyes...

bring on the Mark VII 1:1 bust in May!!!:yess:

Okay...at long last here are pics of my latest completed project...my custom Iron Man Mark III 1:1 Bust. So as some of you may know, i had won this recast of Sideshows Mark III bust from eBay for around $214 but was later refunded a further $100 due to delays in shipping caused by the Chinese New Year, so all in all it cost me approx. $114 for the bust. The bust arrived in good condition but the paint application was extremely poor and needed to be repainted...in some cases parts of the bust had been left unpainted, notably on the collar part...on the plus side it came with working LED light up eyes and they looked perfect! Here are some shots of when i recieved it and how dull the colour was.... (see next post below!)

so i started with the repainting of the bust...the candy red colour was applied first...

then once the gold parts were applied aswell as the chrome collar straps and port holes...the bust was complete. Here are the final pics:

Thanks ichiro, well if I told you what I'd paid for it you wouldn't believe me...the seller had kept this bust in storage all this time without even opening it...however, I asked him to remove it and to check for any damage before I paid for it to make sure everything was okay with it....the repainted on has now been sold but if you go to my show your shelves thread you'll be able to see that I have another custom iron man 1:1 bust which arrived to me damaged and I fixed it! It has a removable mask which is attached by Velcro :)

Looks Awesome Roberto! Congrats!
thanks GenoToys, you don't understand how badly I wanted this piece...:hi5:

Does anybody else who owns this magnificent bust no where i can find the markings of the ES number? I believe the ES number is out of 1500 made but cant find it on the underside of the bust or the shipping box? :dunno

I've checked more than 1 bust and they are not numbered on the underside. Since I was not the first owner, I haven't had a chance to check a shipper box (if there was one). I don't think it's on the art box (the brown one with the sticker decal of Stark Industries.

The ES is 1500, but they were not numbered. I remember some collectors had written numbers (scribbled with marker) on the outside of the shippers, but whether or not that's the edition number remains to be seen because none of the pieces themselves were ever numbered.

how strange? has this ever been the case with any other piece released by Sideshow? Seems wierd how they would create an ES of 1500 yet not indiviually number each piece...doesnt this kind of go against the point of having an ES at all?:dunno

Congrats on the bust looks fantastic would love one but can't justify it with the helmet already maybe one day :)

Yeah, they've done it a few times, but it's not something that they do a lot.

This particular bust was definitely an anomaly for its time. Still is. :lol

Beautiful piece though.

I misplaced my ac adapter, can anybody post a pic of it, or tell me what it says on it. i found several but dont want to plug in intil i know the correct one

Is there any other recast bust ? I am afraid to get one on eBay now.

Hi jye, got your PM, thanks :hi5: in regards to your question about recasted IM MKIII busts i have had first hand experience as i have purchased one from China myself. I think like with most people who research into MKIII recasts, they are those like me, who badly wanted the MKIII bust but either missed out first time or just think the secondary market value of the SSC original is way too high...firstly i'd like to state that in no way do i support those who sell recasts and yes its wrong but i wanted one to customise myself.

To cut a long story short what i recieved was a shambles in comparison to what they had advertised in the pictures. It arrived badly painted (really badly painted) and it also arrived damaged with the 2 colllar pieces snapped off, finally to rub salt in the wounds the light feature did not work either. In the end i decided to keep it as i was going to customise it anyway and in turn recieved a 50% partial from the seller after i sent a few firm messages abt the the condition.

I've since then managed to pick up an official Sideshow MKIII bust for a relatively high price but nothing like the prices we see on ebay that ask for over $2000! The official bust is superb and i'm so glad i have it! Now that ive seen both casts i can say that the fake recasts are very poor in comparison and also much smaller in size. The SSC bust infact is not officially an accurate representation of a 1:1 as i do feel it is slightly smaller than the protos used for the movie but the chinese recasts are even smaller!

The risk is down to the buyer at the end of the day. My experience may be different to anothers so only you can make the decision. There are many recasts out there for different pieces that SSC have released over the years, my advice would be to wait patiently for the official casts to come up on the secondary market and pay a slightly higher price. Its very rare to find a recast that is exactly spot on to the original and the materials that are used to recast are extremely poor to say the least.
