I posted pics and comments in the other thread early on. Mine was about what I'd expected. The paint wasn't absolutely perfect I'm sure-- I don't see anything wrong with it at all, but I never nitpicked it enough to find issues in the little parts you don't look at or anything like that. I would draw the line at any scratches, cracks, or issues of paint in the wrong place. Frankly, I just don't see any evidence of that and I'm very happy with it.

I'll agree with you on that..... It always seems that no one really speaks up TOO much when something is done right. But when something is done WRONG, people will go out of the way to make it known.... In this case, anyone who paid this much money for a collectible is DEF gonna speak up if they receive anything LESS than perfection. That's an expensive piece for something so simple....

Thank you!

Is it that hard or too much to ask for to make sure that the whole bust actually is coated with paint?

Apparently it is....... I wonder how much SS lost on this item. It seems that they're scrambling for EVERY penny they can get for this (since they're even offering to sell DAMAGED and "stressed" Iron Man busts for $650 still!!!!!! :horror That's just WAY TOO MUCH. Honestly. $650 for a DAMAGED IM bust????? C'mon........You're gonna pay almost twice the average cost for a bust when it's STILL damaged????? :sick:sick:sick )

To be honest I haven't been following all the different controversies - but why make something thick if it doesn't need to be? To unnecessarily increase shipping charges?

GREAT POINT DAVE !!

thats all you need to add to the problem. a bust that weighs 100 pounds to add to the shipping charges.

sure ! I would love to have the real titanium alloy armor.
:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Why delete a thread about how poorly someone has been treated by Sideshow's customer service?

Huh....we must only be able to talk about good experiences with customer service now. (Which to be fair, usually is very good.) Maybe their customer support is being beaten down due to the extremely poor QC lately.

Of course Dave, they gotta make the busts heavier, so that if the bust is good, people can whine about the shipping charges. Its gotta be something....

I, for one, am all for kicking someone when they're down. That way they'll try harder not to fall next time :D

Seriously though, their customer service is usually very good, but they flat out lied to me, then ignored my written request. Oh well, I guess I'll just start supporting shops more.

I would imagine that one person's "perfect" is another person's "crap". It's impossible to determine what some random customer might find objectionable. You can make a cursory inspection and not notice anything wrong, and another person could concentrate on specific areas and find 100s of little things.

Huh, that's funny...

They have a history of double checking products for other people, but they flat out lied to and ignored me.

I wasn't asking for a magnifying glass to be used, just for a fully painted statue without any cracks, chips, rubs, or paint splatters. Apparently that's too much to ask for, isn't it?

Hell, a response must come with a price any more

My bust that was "double checked" had a paint chip right by the front of the face mask so that doesn't mean anything either.

I don't think the bust should be solid, but some "heft" is nice. I would gamble that if they made two versions...an egg shell thin one (yours) and one with "girth"...everyone would rush out to buy Ironman girth (despite shipping costs).

I'd settle for the version that was painted well...

I'd happily pay more in shipping for some heft.. Light and thin= cheap IMO..

Gimme a rock over an eggshell..

I went to the UPS site and for S&G I did a shipping quote as if the bust was double the weight. If you double the thickness of the bust, its going to be close to double the weight no? So I put in a box size of 30x30x30 and a weight of 70 pounds. Shipped from Los Angeles to Detroit for me, the CHEAPEST quote from them, would have cost me $268.29 Thats enough to buy another item (or 2 if youre into 12 inch figures) from Sideshow. The most expensive quote from them was $364.69....uhhhh...thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass.

I imagine it wouldnt cost quite that much from Sideshow, but its still going to be significantly more shipping, for nothing. Imagine how much more to ship Internationally it would be.

Now these are just guesstimation figures, but who the hell would pay $268 bucks for shipping, so that a bust, thats going to sit on a shelf, and nobody is going to be the wiser of how much it weighs other than the person who took it out of the box, has some more "heft"?
The bust does have some weight, it doesnt feel like its made of paper mache, when you look at it you do think it would weigh more, but nobody is going to display the bust sitting on a scale and tell everyone who comes in and sees it "Hey, lookit how much that bad boy weighs eh...Boohyaa!"

My point is, it doesnt have to weigh a ton to look good. Unfortunately some of them have QC issues, but not all of them. And of course Sideshow is going to offer them up in the weekly Express update newsletter as damaged, they do it EVERY week with some sort of collectible.

Was it expensive? Sure, but it wasnt the most expensive bust Sideshow has produced. they havent made one bust that sold for less than $399.99, and the most expensive is the Alien bust at $999.99

$6000 thousand for a 1:1 Terminator Endo, or $16,000 for Robbie the Robot? now those are expensive items. :D
