So no replacements being sent out, that probably means those of us who have ordered though PLAY in the UK have no chance of ever getting one:( This has turned into a complete farce imho, you would think SS would ahve learnt their lesson from the SIM. This was supposed to be my 40th birthday present from all the family, something special, but now what!!!

another update: https://sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1461582&postcount=1542

The retailer received my return. They notified me that NO replacements will be made through Sideshow because there were so many bad ones in the bunch that all the replacements are gone but Sideshow will be refunding $100 back if I wanted to keep it. AWESOME! NOT!... Soooooo therefore I will be out of an Iron Man 1:1 Bust. Fortunately I am getting a full refund. Out of sight out of mind.

I think that is BS that sideshow wont be replacing anymore bust's.
If they have run out of replacements they should be offering to repair
the one's you all currently have at their expense.
What if you dont want a partial re-fund???
What if you dont want a full refund???
What if you just want what you FKN paid for.
These bust's should have arived to the collectors in perfect mint
condition, after all isn't that what we expect from "Sideshow".

The only way too describe this Piece is "Good from Far, but FAR from Good"!!!!

I know it's been said, but SSC really dropped the ball on this one, I genuinely feel bad for everyone who got screwed over with this :(

I've described quite a few girls with that same line :lol

I figure at this point my best best is an online retailer, shop, or ebay seller who is willing to open/inspect it first. I'm sure as hell not buying anything new and sealed.

How many "good" ones do you think were actually produced?

honestly, I'm thinking easily less than 500.

If that's the case, then this might just turn out to be a good investment for those who actually got a "good" item. I opened mine and inspected it when I got it, and did not see any major flaws, so I ended up keeping mine (better look at it again closely when i get home tonight as I put it back inside the box after about an hour of admiring it :lol)

Where do you think I Got the saying from:lol I think it's used when referring to cars too.

Anyway i would agree with your # 500 sounds about right

I don't think anyone who is willing to take a chance on this should buy it unseen either....but thats obviously easier said then done...Good Luck man!!

They're hoarding the returns and spraying them silver.. Then going to resell them to guys like SOLIDSNAKE for 900..

I have no problem paying high price for a masterpiece.
sorry to hear that some of you guys have recieved damaged pieces and that this piece was a total disater for 10% of the costumers that got one.

I am in the 90% of satified costumers of this bust and know one here (bodie the curse) will change my mind about how amazing this piece is.

I think in my opinion all the pieces that SIDESHOW MAKES are amazing in different ways.

ALLLLLLLL OF THEM so if I was a millionair I would have a special account with them and buy every single thing they made.
also would have all that HOT TOYS and MEDICOM makes.

I am not sucking up to anyone just love what all this high end collectible companies are doing for us movie collectors.

Also cant forget CINEMAQUETTE !! I want A CM ENDO SO BAD and the PREDATOR TOO.

I will have them soon enogh.
but ofcourse bodie will manage to find defualts with any collectible you buy so consult with him before you buy anything.

he is the master when it comes to collectibles.

If 500 is true, then the 'decent' ones out there could fetch at least the price they paid for or more several years down the road.

Abomination goes for $500..add another $100 and you can get Iron-Man 1:1 bust...not a bad deal at all with 500 worldwide existence.

i think that was a typo, he prob meant to say "no one here". d'oh!

anyway, here's a pic i took at the shop in singapore. this is the flawless iron man bust i was talking abt. sorry the pic quality is so crap, but it was really difficult to capture a decent one, cos the light was bouncing around from all sides, the piece was inside a glass shelf, and i didn't have a polarizing filter. :google

but this should give u an idea of how glossy and even its paintwork was, like a custom-sprayed car. the way it SHOULD look for all pieces...

Wow, how was SS not able to pump these out consistently with that attention to paint detail?...I've been in the car business for a while and have seen amature car painters paint an ENTIRE car in 3 hours and have them come out with a better paint job than was seen on most of these busts. They could have paid 1 guy,(professional) to paint alllllll 1500 of these things and be finished in the matter of a month. I doubt that bust was painted by SS, repainted for sure. The shine shown on that bust is exactly what I had pictured and was expecting when I placed the order for mine. I guess they ran out of clear coat when they got to my bust....

that is like "a brand new car' super shiny! I haven't seen any on this thread or any other that have a glossy paint finish like that. MUST BE A CHINESE COPY!!!!!!! lol

Imagine that - copies that are BETTER tahn the original!

Thats exactly how i feel. I really wanted this piece... no refunds, no credits... just the dang bust. But I had no choice this time.. unless I wanted to risk painting it over myself... but I just couldnt justify the cost of what I paid for this thing and having to repair it myself... thats just plain stoopid. The last few things Ive gotten from Sideshow have really disappointed me... and I've always been a huge SS supporter. eh... I'll just pretend I never bought it in the first place. aaaaaaaaaaand done.:chew

hmmmm, just wondering how much it would cost to get a pro car painter to spray something as small as the iron man bust? i've seen aftermarket paints that look quite close to tony stark's "hot rod red", so it's possible. and the piece i saw did indeed look like it had a clear lacquer-like coat, but only on the head and neck. the shoulder area was still kind of a matt finish, but very even, with none of the "waviness" i've seen in other pieces.

nah, it wasn't a repaint or recast. cos the shop owner said he'd just taken it out of the original sideshow box (which i saw sitting in a corner of the store) a few days ago, and displayed it AS IS. and since that piece was his own, he wasn't willing to sell it. guess he knew how hard it was to find a well-painted bust.
