awesome stuff!

use 91% alcohol to smooth out your rough areas and creases. Some people use lighter fluid. It will cut the sculpey even moreso.
Softener will actually soften your sculpey up and make it more likely to get mushed if you continue to work on other areas, whereas alcohol will actually (once dried) pull some of the softnener out and firm up the sculpey for final detailing .

only use the soften if you have some dry, cracking sculpey yo need to soften up. And use it sparingly. ..

I did use alcohol, but the issue is that its hard to tell on the uncured how deep the lines will look on the finished. I tried for a bit of a deeper look, but went a bit too far :lol

oh ok. I see what youre saying.
sometimes it toiugh to see the detail in the reg pink sculpey cause its a little translucent.
A lot of people either mix grey in with it or use the Grey SS Firm to help alleviate this.

Also baking for longer periods of time on a lower heat setting help reduce the expanding and shrinking sculpey does when cured...

I should try mixing in some grey... I can't use the firm only as I prefer the pliability of the super, but a small amount to help visualize would be helpful.

What would be a good temperature setting to use? Box recommends 325F.

Thnx Occulum, the sculpy softener I only use a drop to cover a whole head works great to soften the dry bits & blend added sculpy to the original work before curing, I also use after a light curing to smooth, I add a drop the smooth over the sculpt with my fingers, kinda like a ultra fine grit sand paper

Got in a Hasbro Gamorrean Guard today (thanks mrhatrulez :rock). And now I finally get to tackle a project I've wanted to do for a long time.

Inspired by Customikey's awesome repaint/customization I got started on one as well. Have to say I'm really impressed by how nice the Hasbro figure is. Just needs some work.

So here's my WIP from when I got him (and quickly disassembled him) to about 5 hours later. I'm a bit tired for now so I'll probably stop for tonight, but figure I'm about 50% done.

Even one coat of paint makes a huge improvement...

BTW, cutting in to paint the black straps on his legs is somewhat mind-numbing... I don't know how guys like Josh and Les do this all the time.

I'm usually good for a short creative burst and then need a couple months to recoup :lol

Actually I have to crack this one out kind of fast... we are moving next week (into a home of our own :rock) and we're selling our old furniture. Soon I won't have a table to paint on :lol

Congrats on the new home! :rock Sorry about the table.:monkey2

That's okay... its just the kitchen one we never use anyway :lol I'm actually gonna try to have a regular table set up so I can do custom work.

And thanks King! Did a little more work just now :lol Sometimes once you start its hard to stop.
