I've seen Magic Mike and both Jump Street films and if Charming Tater has improved from G.I. Joe, it's only slightly. I still think he's a mediocre actor and it's disappointing that he gets so many great roles that could have gone to people with actual talent.

You should check out Foxcatcher, I thought he was very good in it. If you hate him in that then he'll probably never impress you haha

Never forget...

(Though that's likely the exact same costume he'll wear as Gambit in the Singerverse)

Channing Tatum attempting a Cajun accent.

Doesn’t sounds bad at all, and this was before he started prepping for the Gambit role.

Wow, pretty crazy the directors they're trying to hire, this is actually good news to me. Looks like this might be a more serious film than I expected.

Channing Tatum Confirms Gambit Movie Is An Origin Story, First Draft Of Script Complete | Comicbook.com

"Josh Zetumer just turned in the first draft of the script, and it's killer. None of us were sure how he was going to deal with the X-Men world. But we're going to be changing some of the tropes of these movies. It's always about saving the world (Laughs), but maybe we're going to shift things a little bit. There's so many ways you can take [an origin story]. You could do it like Batman Begins, or a different take and go the Guardians of the Galaxy route. All I can say is, I'm super excited."

Gambit doesn't need a film. He doesn't even have a cool power.

His power isn't cool but he is.

He's my favorite X-Man but I agree, he probably shouldn't have his own movie, he works best in an ensemble.

:lol :lol :lol

Sounds good so far, great to see how excited he is for the role.

I'm starting to actually think this film can turn out decent with all the good news posted today. Just seeing the kind of directors Fox is going after for this film is giving me a lot of hope.

Great news!!!

I hear I thought nobody wanted to direct this project :lol

I'll have very low expectations for this one, and hope to be pleasantly surprised. My only real hope is that we'll see some X-characters I actually care about. Cuz Gambit ain't one of them.

I'm not a huge Channing fan, though I enjoyed Foxcatcher (he plays a terrific meathead), and don't actively dislike him like lots of others around here do. Apes was OK. It's not that I expect the movie to be bad, I'm just not going in expecting it to be good.

I think it'll take miracle for this movie to be successful. I at least hope it's good, there were plenty of other characters in the X-Men universe that deserved a movie before Gambit, and this coming from a huge Gambit fan.
