I think it'll take miracle for this movie to be successful. I at least hope it's good, there were plenty of other characters in the X-Men universe that deserved a movie before Gambit, and this coming from a huge Gambit fan.

I'd like to see the cosmic side of the X Men with characters like Gladiator (Kallark) or Mojo.

I don't know if this changed recently, but in the older comics Mojo wasn't fighting the X-Men in space, but in another dimension (the Mojo-verse). However, I would love to see them go there. I would take Longshot: the Movie way before I would take Gambit: the Movie.

Gambit's a great character - not one of my faves, but cool nonetheless.

Taylor Kitsch was an excellent choice in a bad film, but he should've gotten a second run.

Why this box head (Tatoes) got the green light is one of the beautiful idiocies of Hollypoop. :lol

Looks like filming will begin in October, casting call is also at the site and they all obviously look like fake names IMO.

I'm hoping Mr. Sinister is Louis, Bella Donna (or a new Rogue) is Vera, and Emma Frost is Nonna. Anybody else sound like a mutant from the comics?

Louis– Male, any ethnicity, 40s-50s. Elegant and intelligent. An appealing entrepreneur with an unexpected dark side.

Vera– Female, any ethnicity, mid 20s – early 30s. Beautiful, smart, tough, fiery and unpredictable.

Wes– Male, any ethnicity, mid 20s – mid 30s. Aspirational but weak minded. Soulful and sensitive.

Fritz– Male, any ethnicity, 40s – 50s. A professional thief. Charismatic con-artist. Warm hearted but untrustworthy.

Nash– Male, any ethnicity, mid 20s – early 30s. A potent threat. Heir to his mother’s business. Malevolent.

Willhelm– Male, any ethnicity, 30s. Dangerous street criminal. Protective and loyal to his family. Intensely loyal and violent.

Gary– Male, any ethnicity, mid 20s – early 30s. A little simple; dim-witted and passive.

Nonna—Female, any ethnicity, mid 20s – 30 years old. Uptight, corporate, vicious, sexual.

Joe– Male, any ethnicity, 30s. He’s a gun for hire. He is the black sheep of his family. Not from good breeding but from a working class family.

Ben–Male, any ethnicity, 20s. Just reaching adulthood. A street kid, a disaffected outsider, an orphan.

Boris–Male, Hispanic, 20s. Charming, handsome, and dangerous..

Clarissa– Female, mixed race, 10 – 12 years old. Ethereal and other worldly. Very expressive.

Wolfgang– Male, authentic French, 40s. A French criminal. Must speak fluent French.

Howard– Male, Caucasian. 50s. A refined European mobster who speaks fluent French.

Well they've let Reynolds have another shot as Deadpool, most of Hollywood wouldn't know what makes a good movie if they had it written down for them in big letters :lol

Actually, although I can't stand Reynolds, he does work as Deadpool, so good for him.

Anyway.. Tanning Scrotum for the ragin' Cajun huh.

Yay.

Anybody know when this film is supposed to take place?

I wouldn't mind if this was an Origin story in present time and they put Gambit in an X-force film with Reynolds/Deadpool in the future.

Since Psylocke and Angel are in Apocalypse, they probably wouldn't work without some time traveling angle. But I think an X-Force movie with Cable, Deadpool, Gambit, Domino and another female (maybe Hope Summers or X-23) would work great.

I have a feeling Vera is Belladonna and they aren't going to bring in a new Rogue :(
Nonna probably isn't Emma Frost since she died in between First Class and Days of Future Past and they are looking to keep this in the existing universe. :(

But Reynolds is ideal for Deadpool. They just didn't let him be Deadpool last time

I'm not criticising Reynolds, you couldn't really judge him in X-Men Origins especially during the Weapon XI scenes. On the other hand I thought Kitsch brought Gambit to life and got better and better as the film went along, personally its the only film ive seen where I can say I actually liked his performance.

He was fine as Gambit, and sold the part. But radioactive mutant head Tater is going to take me out of the film the whole time... it's like they went out of the way to find someone that doesn't even remotely resemble Gambit.

Channing Tatum Exits X-Men Spinoff Gambit - SuperHeroHype

Channing Tatum has reportedly dropped out of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men spinoff

There’s a major shakeup today on 20th Century Fox’s side of the Marvel Universe as The Wrap is reporting that Channing Tatum has exited the upcoming X-Men spinoff, Gambit. The film was planned to go before cameras in October, although Tatum’s exit now leaves the film’s future uncertain.

It was recently announced that Gambit would be directed by Rise of the Planet of the Apes helmer Rupert Wyatt with casting reports coming in as recently as yesterday. Today’s update claims Tatum had been involved with screentests for the fim’s female lead with Blue is the Warmest Color and SPECTRE‘s Lea Seydoux among the actresses reading for the part.

With a screenplay by Josh Zetumer (RoboCop), Gambit was to be produced by Tatum and his creative partner Reid Carolin, along with X-Men franchise stewards Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner. It is unclear at this stage whether or not Tatum will remain on board the film as a producer, should Gambit move forward.

Currently, Gambit is scheduled for release October 7, 2016

Never cared for Kitsch until I saw him in True Detective. Tempted to go rewatch Origins again and see what his performance was like.

Glad Charming Tater is out.
