I suppose, but that strikes me as kind of a lame excuse. We buy these things because we want what we saw in the films, not some theoretically possible version of the character. That's not to say that the paint job is a deal killer or anything, but why not get it right? Unless this is already a production sample?

"we"? You got a mouse in your pocket? Or did you get elected to advocate for the group?:D

I absolutely do not buy these figures with the expectation that they look exactly like the character did in the movie. Personally, I find that to be unreasonable, and nothing more than food for angst.

"lame excuse"? I don't make excuses for anybody. I'll clarify my position. I am not a likeness Nazi. I do not hold to some unreasonable demand for likenesses to be perfect to any particular incarnation of the character. I am perfectly content with a likeness that is a good representation of the character. Much the same way I enjoyed the comic books even though the drawn characters looked nothing like the actors.

Now, on the other hand, I AM a Nazi for things like tight joints on the mannequins and details like functioning pouches. I absolutely do have an unreasonable expectation for that and I get pissed off if I get a figure that flops around like a rag doll or has molded pouches.

I play with these things, damnit!

:D

The final production paint will make or break this one for me. I have tired of SS inconsistent abilities in the paint area...and with their shipping with UPS at $15 now, I am gonna get way more choosey

Unreal, I'm very happy with my repainted Hasbro... but this will look good with him.

More important is Sideshow working on non-standard body figures. This is a huge development IMO :rock :rock

:lol the only thing I could think of when I saw this on SS's newsletter was you sig GB.

Wow, I need to stop visiting the board so much! :lol

This stupid thing is probably gonna be $150 each, but I REALLY REALLY need 2... Grrr...

:lol :lol Glad to know I have an impact :lol

This seemed to be the best pic I could find of one... I guess its a suit that was on display.

GREAT looking figure! What an awesome way to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. Wait.....

Still kicks "a" but I'm wondering about their timing on this piece. Hopefully, they'll announce some Empire figs at Comic-Con.

Okay... I didn't really expect the idea that people want the figures to look like their on-screen counterparts to be a point of contention. I never said they had to look *exactly* like the characters in the movies, but that is sort of the goal they should be striving for, is it not? It just seems odd to go with this color scheme when they've gotten it pretty much exactly right on the 1:1 bust.

That said, lighting can play funny tricks, so it's possible that this looks different in hand. And of course it's true that we don't know what the final product will look like.

Look who is peaking out from behind the Gams in the back of the pic...is that who I think it is and is it a clue of a future figure :horror.

I dont think the 3 in back are figures, the second one has different patterns on the shoulder pads, I think that ones a film shot impose over another movie still of the 3rd guard and the dancer. Though I hope I am wrong.

The hindered articulation wasn't too great either, so I'm hoping Sideshow's has improved that area too.

The only problem is, as GB pointed out is no way to hide ugly knee joints and such, I would just get a second Hasbro if it did, they should be much cheaper when this comes out.:lol

To be honest not many sideshow head sculpts or paint jobs are spot on, and this is exactly what always seem to start a long argument about how this is SS not Hot Toys, and quality vs. cost , and so on.

There are a lot of extremely good painters on the boards here, get one to repaint yours when you get it.

I will probably pass on it either way and just get another Hasbro when this gets released, and down the road try and get a loose on one eBay much cheaper.

The funny thing is after you buy a SSC figure and have it repainted then it actually surpasses HT in price. At least HT is wham, bam, thank you ma'am. But they are getting better (look at Lando or Henry Sr. from Indy).

Thanks. :)

But I don't really think it would be worth totally repainting it for me, if it ends up looking like it does in the picture. It looks good. I just think a different skin tone would have been better.

As much as I want one... I'll have to decide between keeping my repainted one, or going with Sideshow.

Unless its far and away better I'll probably just stick with mine.

Neat addition if I had Jabba. Wow, 30 years of Empire and this comes out. It's cool, I guess. I don't want to be too negative.

You'd think they painted him purple with the way you're talking. :lol

Maybe Sideshow should offer ones in kit form so you can just paint them right the first time? lol I personally doesnt think this looks bad..not really sure what some of you are looking at.
