I see no problems with the look of Hot Toys arms and legs, so I'm not sure why Sideshow was worried about joints.

no elbow joints? that sucks. i'm kinda worried about this figure now. it will be like the MOTU Tytus. looks good, but you can't do anything with it cuz it has no articulation. boring.

I liked how Sideshow did their (much cheaper) Creature from the Black Lagoon figure- silicon skin over a jointed figure. Lasts forever and no joints, poses well, and looks great. They could have done at least the arms on the Gamorrean Guard like this and made it worth the price they are charging.

No joints at the knees means this figure is simply not poseable below the waist (no pose you'd put him in anyway).

No elbow joints means the best pose you get out of the arms is about what you see in the SS pics.

The sculpt is great, but when they say the figure is very, very poseable, that just seems so wrong.

This figure is no more poseable than the Hasbro version. A bit disappointing. But I wasn't really expecting anything else.

I'm really gonna have to let other people figure this guy out, before I take the plunge. It doesn't sound like much of his articulation is 'useful' apart from the shoulders and neck. I don't like $120 statues.

I agree that the lack of articulation is worrying, although $120 would actually be pretty cheap if it were a statue.

This is what I've been saying since the beginning. I REALLY want this figure but I am not putting any money down until I see in hand pics.

If the pics look good then I will buy him immediately.

Since the elbows are crooked some when you swivel the bicept it will almost be like bending the arm itself.
I'm not really sure what purpose one would have for knee articulation on this figure. To say you want articulation so you have unlimited potential is fair, but how many times are you going to actually need to bend his knees? I'm betting 99% of the time people would have had this figure in a normal standing position anyway.

I think its a none issue as long as I can make the figure look like a guy in a suit. Its not like I'd have him in action poses.

Its actually more articulation than I expected... I figured on the ball joints, but not the cuts at the bicep.

No knees is probably the biggest issue as it will mean Gammy will be relegated to standing poses, but with the hip and ankle ball joints there will still be a bit of options on how he stands... so that's something. And overall its better than Hasbro which only had 7 cut joints (neck, shoulders, hips and wrists).

Here we have 9 ball joints and 2 cut joints.

The debate on the joints is not good in my opinion. The gamoréen imposes by his stature, his appearance! That have 8 or 12 joints adds nothing to the character. Ok we would most like to move her arms, not give him a lap dance posture.

I think it's a good debate to have. The thing is that people collect figures for different reasons. I'll have to admit that while I like the idea of having a lot of posability in theory, I simply don't spend much time posing my figures. I usually just choose a pose that looks good and leave it there, so I've found myself gravitating more to statues (PFs mostly), since they can have facial expressions and poses that are hard to achieve with figures. For me, the main attraction for these figures is that there are so many characters that you're not likely to see statues for. Other people, however, love to pose their figures a lot, making little diorama scenes and maybe taking pictures of them, so I can see why articulation would be more important for them.

I think it was a good decision by SS not to articulate the knees and elbows, how dynamic are these guys anyway??? :dunno
Unless you want to put him crawling away from the Rancor of course :lol!!!

:exactly:Enough said! I totally agree, you've summed up my thoughts.

True. I mean how many people would really use action poses for them. Although an elbow joint would have been useful. I'm not really upset though. I expected him to be more expensive than he is, more joints may have made him cost more.

Again, at the price they are charging complete articulation would be expected. Something akin to a Hasbro figure in regards to articulation isn't what most expect at $120 or so per figure. Again, their Creature from the Black Lagoon managed to have good articulation with no visible joints, for not that much money.

Although in fairness... the Creature (a figure I love BTW) looks a bit anorexic in his gill suit. I think knee joints would have been a tough sell here as the legs are so thick... it would not be as bit of an issue at the elbow; but with the swivel bicep that bit of loss isn't too big of an issue.

I'm surprised this figure isn't listed as coming soon in the newsletter. Sideshow's site still has him listed for January but I'm guessing there's a delay. I don't mind it if there is because Hammerhead, Rex, and Red Ninja are all coming out at once. I'm still anxious to get him though.

This is the most "extreme" pose I've seen a Gammy in...
so... again, not an issue IMO...
