It does look better than the prototype, and the skin tone isn't as dark as I feared. I'm not sure why the helmet is removable since it looks pretty silly without the helmet, but I guess it's not a bad thing. I'll definitely have to get one of these sooner or later.

Having a removable helmet would make more sense if it was mixed media... but looks like its fully sculpted as well. Still... doesn't appear to hurt the look when its on so its a non issue.

I don't think the helmet is removable because they expect people to display him without it. They probably did that because it just looks better sitting on his head than being being obviously attached to it. That's my guess anyway.

PS: Love your sig galactiboy!

Good point... Also probably easier to get a clean paint job rather than risk getting slop on the head.

And thanks Khev; one figure (R2 w/pop-up lightsaber) to go :rock :rock :rock

Yeah, that's probably true about the helmet. Even the new Hasbro figure has a removable helmet if I recall correctly.

I need to get a complete set of loose vintage figures myself. I'm probably about halfway there, but I kind of got stalled. I saw a pop-up R2 in the Rebelscum classifieds yesterday for $65. Sticker was kind of dirty though. Not sure if that's a good price.

I guess it can be said that I feel Sideshow is doing a pretty awesome job for what I am looking for when I find that a tiny fail like the lack of articulation in the elbows and knees in the Gamorrean Guards is their biggest fail in the line.

Actually, just saw that listing was different from the one I had already inquired about. The price is probably a bit high, but the sticker is a bit too discolored and dirty for me. Thanks for the heads up though :duff

I have all the vintage figures except a couple of the random ewoks I could never find.

I haven't thought about them in years. I had a few from 1977 and started collecting them in 1990. By 1992-93 I think I had just about all of them. Now they're boxed up since 2001. Very sad when I think about it.

Very sad indeed... now crack open that set and send me an R2 w/pop-up lightsaber :lecture

And I'll take whatever GB doesn't need. :lol

:lol

I just found my list. I also need an A-wing pilot.

How many vintage are there? I may not have the R2 with pop-up lightsaber. My count is 92 carded figures, not counting the variants (vinyl jawa, small head Han, etc) or all the extra playset figs. Is that right? I have 106 total vintage which includes many playset figures.

Man, I'm obviously in the minority here, but I just think this doesn't look good at all. Maybe it's the poses in the photos, but the coloration still seems off, head seems a bit small, the sleeve fabric looks super cheap, etc. etc. The details do look nice, like the nails and horns. Still...I feel like this could've been executed so much better.
