fair comparison of a $20.00 sculpt and a $119.00 sculpt.

Amazingly close considering the great distance in price. Of course, Gammy was always one of Hasbro's best creatures. In both cases, the sculpts look like a Gamorrean Guard. You really can only get as good as the source.... whether its $1 or $1,000.

That said, I'm beginning to become very displeased with the paintjob on this guy. I was worried from the get-go but now...

Maybe I should wait for Gartogg and see if they greatly improve it?

I'd still love to see a full shot of both (Hasbro and SS) together.

That's a beautiful custom paintjob there.

Thanks Wor-Gar,
This is a quick pic of the two side-by-side per your request.
Also, why no stand for consistency in our collections?

Thanks for that pic, dh4!

Well, I can see that SS is clearly the more accurate even with inferior paint.

I'm eager to see who will figure out a way to get that head to sit lower between the shoulders. I want to give Gammy that lazy slouch they seem to have had most of the time.

What about the Sideshow do you think is more accurate?

Also, it looks like the Sideshow is actually a bit taller than the Hasbro? I'm surprised by that since previous pictures led me to believe the Hasbro was slightly taller.

icruise, you're right he is a little taller and maybe that's what is bothering me; he doesn't seem to be heavy enough? I'm also looking at a few reference pics from the ROTJ and I'm thinking this maybe corrected by lowering the fur which may make him look shorter and heavier? I'm going to give it a try.

Got mine yesterday, gotta say great looking figure, feels a bit like a poseable moneybox but still good, paint apps aren't fantastic but there not bad either, looks better in person then in photos more detail

I perfectly agree, especially about the poseable moneybox comment. That puts the $120 SSC asks for the Gamorrean Guard in a certain perspective I feel.
For me, lack of knee articulation is a bit of an issue. Head to neck connection leaves a lot to be desired. Paint on the hands rubs off easily, and in my set, there was a difference in color between the different hands. It is a nice addition to the SW line, so overall, I'm satisfied, but I hope this 12inch Gamorrean "statuefig" stays a one time experiment and SSC don't get ideas for let's say a 12" Hulk or something. Still, kudos to SSC for making the Gammorrean Guard.

As usual, more in my photo thread.

Cant wait for the Gammy to partner my Hasbro, guarding the slug. Don't fancy paying retail though. No SS 1/6 fig is worth their current asking prices

Extremely beautiful shots.

Overall size, scale, the head relative to the body, size of hands... the fur color, just need to pull it down lower. Should I keep going?

Overall size seems practically identical. And actually, I think the Hasbro's hands are more accurate -- the Gamorrean suits had hands that were almost comically oversized. The Sideshow version probably looks better though.

I would certainly agree that the overall body looks nicer on the Sideshow though.

Oh man he's a big hollow piggy bank? All that's missing is the slot. The more I read the less I want him. :monkey4

I think anyone who is on the fence about getting it should, I left it late to order because I had similiar thoughts, pllus I'm not a real jabba fan, In hand it really does look great. again cant wait to get the second and set up with Luke

I too notice the discrepancy in the hands colour.

Great photography, Alice Adrenochrome.

I too thought of recreating the scene when two Gamorrean Guards approaches Luke. It seems that the second guard carried a difference Polearm.

So I pulled my Hasbro Gammy out of his case today to replace him with the SS. I thought I'd take a picture of them togather. But when I saw them side by side, I cringed and said no way. and Immediately removed the hasbro from sight.

Which is bad because I used to like it

I would love to see an un-customized Hasbro Gammy up against the SS one. Just for fun. If you can pull yourself together to take the pic?
