Say what you will, I can perfectly understand a masterpiece like this being at the price it's at--for this kind of quality, that's a steal, especially compared to other companies charging much more for figures that, to me, are just the same quality. I am beyond overjoyed with this figure!

No! NO NO NO!!! You'll regret it, I promise you! In fact, I'll find a camera and take all kinds of amazing pictures just so I can MAKE you regret it! You'll see!

Poor Gandalf . . . people just don't understand . . . :monkey2

:lol I just might and I definitely look forward to yours and others pics. :rock

Cap, i can't agree with that line of logic because there have been many SSC pieces that I own that I consider masterpieces and were considerably less. In fact I would argue SSC was built on making affordable masterpieces. I don't think there is any collector that doesn't WANT this figure but rather CAN'T get this figure.

That's ok, different opinions are always cool. Though economically, I'm as bad off as anybody here can hope to be. But that doesn't matter because to me, this figure is worth selling off a few things and making do with a little less here and there. Totally worth it. It's just that amazing!

Oh Sideshow, I love you . . . :love

Thats why I'm settling for the figure minus the book. I'd like to have it but I can live without it.

My main concern is that they trash his robes a bit. He just looks way too clean for our grungy old wizard. I want there to be a really striking difference between him and Gandalf the White.

That's a good point, but for those who like it cleaner (myself included), it's nice not to have it pre-weathered at the risk of going overboard. I like it this way; clean for those who prefer that or like to do it themselves. There's more give for options this route. I don't like too much weathering, so I'm glad they did this.

After a long day of internal debate, I went and ordered the exclusive. I feel the price point is too high for a figure with mainly clothing ("cut and sew" is extremely cheap in China) and two staves, which is still one mold basically, and a sword. A new body might, might warrant the extra $$, but as others have said, Aragorn, Legolas, Boromir and Faramir came with far more "stuff" at a lesser price point.

It's my sheer love of LotR that keeps me going on this.

I prefer that he not come weathered. Factory weathering is such a hit or miss prospect, no matter which company.

I could have upgraded the Toy Biz Gandalf w/ a better paint job and new hair, but this is a really fine product and ultimately, could not pass it up.

Had to ***** about it though, couldn't just get it quitely!! :lol

Just make sure you actually mail what you sell off this time. :monkey3

Someone mentioned, way back, that it looked as if Gandalf had a stick up his butt. Could be a third wand? Can we get confirmation on that? :monkey1

:lol
Can we share? Joint custody?

Maybe you can have him on holidays and his birthday :lol Hey you never know, one might show up at Hastings and rot there until its $30?!? Although my guess is Hastings won't continue to buy figures that are this expensive, but I could be wrong.
