1250 is a good size for LOTR.

Not a bad size... I'm still debating if I want to keep the exclusive or simply pick up the regular (for a much lower cost to me) at my local distributor... I like the book as an Exclusive and I'd love to pose the entire Fellowship as if they're in the dwarf tomb--- just still undecided... It would help if I knew that Gimli was on the way.

Actually I think 1250 is a fairly low number, 500 less than Boromir, Legolas or Aragorn and the lowest Ex size of any of the LOTR figs, tied with a second tier (sorry Capt.) character like Faramir.

I can see it dipping lower to 1000 for Merry and Pippin and about the same or maybe 1500 for Gimli.

Thnx! :duff

Sometimes I can't win for losing. I post a thread of new items I got that nobody else is talking about and people +++++ at me. I talk with someone about the fact I got a similar deal and someone has to be a dick.

Wasn't trying to be a dick.

Anyway, with an exclusive size of 1250, it looks like the theory I put forth before (about Sideshow raising the price to compensate for a very small edition size) doesn't hold water.

Seems to be the new magic number now. In a way though, the ES is going down. I mean Faramir was 1250 and Gandalf, a character must-have for this line, also settles in at that number. So maybe 1250 is now the HIGH number for must-have exclusives. Maybe Gimli will be lower.

Yeah, could be. Any lower and I think its not good for the line because of what it could send as a message, and any higher and they just sit around.

An ES of at least 1500 would be a reasonable number for any of the major characters; especially when the ES is for a worldwide customer base.

With an ES of 1250, GTG Exclusive Edition is going to be much sought after. However, there is still the Regular Edition releases to satisfy the remaining market demand.

What's wrong with them sitting around? Not everyone can afford one within a month of it being announced. I don't see what the immediacy of them selling is. I just don't get why they couldn't announce Gandalf, and say from the get go that the edition size is 1250. It's as if they waited a fortnight to see the initial response, then said okay, let's put the brakes on.

I'm a little encouraged that the edition size is so high. I had envisioned and feared something lower. This means that enough people weren't put off by the raised price and ordered him anyway, even though they know they can get the regular cheaper from a dealer.

Cancellations can still come.I know i'm not totally sold on the exclusive, which i think and have always said that SS needs to up the game in that dept.and not worry about what people think.(if they miss it etc.it's necessary for the character blah blah)The exclusive needs to be a must almost(or really cool) for a lot of us to buy direct. Most are not cool, the only really cool ones in the SW line to me were the BD head and the extra ventress head. Now the new clone armor obi-wan one was REALLY cool because it actually clipped to his arm.(if it was just another gummy it woulda sucked)

It seems like every figure (just about) sells out, and then has a lot of waitlist conversions and eventually goes up for 2nd chance. Although a few of the recent SW figures seemed to close their waitlist pretty quickly. Gandalf at 1250 might not be as easy to get as say Boromir or Legolas were.

I agree it happens almost every time.

I hope they can at least keep the current pace... I'd love for it to pick up, but that seems very doubtful. Having 3 on pre-order seems almost like a break-neck pace :lol
