I'm a Star Wars collector above all, and I'm glad that line is doing as well as it is, but I really wonder, what's going on with the LOTR line.

Is Star Wars stealing a lot of resourcers? Are sales and fan support so poor for the LOTR line that they just diverted them to Star Wars because that one brings in sales. Do these figures just take Sideshow excessively longer to make, even with all their resources poured into them? Something is definitely up. It's nice to hear things like the line isn't dead, whoever said that from SSC awhile back, but with no SDCC representation and another delayed figure, it raises questions.

I hope so. I guess with all the delays and nothing new announced I'm not feeling quite as hopeful as I usually am.

I'm doubting that a delay is because the line is dead. That wouldn't make sense. Why delay a figure because you aren't going to make anymore in the line? The Ex. version has been sold out for some time. I'm hoping the one I have on waitlist converts.

I think you may see smaller quantities of certain figures, but I highly doubt they'll quit the line. In the poll they took during SDCC, which figures you were most anxious to see, or something like that, LOTR came in 3rd.

Look how many of us bought the Aragorn PF on second chance just recently. I'm sure Sideshow takes all of that into account.

And if any of you are on the fence about getting the Hobbitses, get to eBay, get a SS gift card for fairly cheap and order them! DO IT! :D

I'm not sure if I agree or not, but you could argue that delaying the piece means that it isn't a priority for Sideshow. They know that the more delays there are, the more people tend to jump ship, and if they had big plans for this line they would presumably try and stop that.

I'm really surprised that they didn't have the Aragorn bust at the show. I would think they would've at least had a prototype ready by then. I don't think they had the GTG figure there. Maybe they didn't want to steal the thunder from the Diorama.

I hope SS knows we worry because we love!

True, or it could simply be a manufacturing problem. Maybe something is quite right, or there's high amount of breakage occuring. Could be anything!

Maybe they're centering on other projects knowing that the bigger interest will be when The Hobbit is closer. They just give us just enough to tease us. :banghead

SSC needs to stop wasting time on these useless lines and licenses no one collects, and concentrate on what makes money. If Pokemon makes more the LOTR, then dump LOTR, but dont spread yourself to thin so that lines suffer.

Well, I thought I agreed with that until they announced that Mazinger Z figure, and it made me realize there's people who but stuff from all the licenses, maybe not as huge as SW, but, still...
I think we'll be OK...I think more hobbits will come, and some baddies

Collectibles, especially 1/6 figures, are a trick market.

You need a balance of how much it takes to make a given figure and demand. LOTR seems like when it's not at the forefront of people's minds, which post trilogy is where we're at, the collector base dwindles, doesn't go away, but it's far less than it was at peak time. Mix that with a slow going line and it's a recipe for a ship struggling to stay afloat, which this line pretty much has been since Boromir.

If this line either rolled out like SSC Star Wars, or they handled it like Hot Toys with some of their lines and shortened lead times so maybe you only get 3 figures a year, but the time from when you see them to getting them is short, you'd be fine.

Trouble with the LOTR line isn't even the lack of figures, it's the visible drag of going from a showcased prototype to an in hand production figure that dwindles the enthusiasm. If it seemed like we're just not getting a lot of figures per year, I think folks would be ok, it's seeing that it's like an act of Congress to get 1 or 2 a year that dwindles the support.

I hope the line isn't dead... if this is the last release I'll most likely keep him, but maybe get rid of a few of the other ones. We'll see I guess how it all plays out.

The line is either dead, dying, or going to just eek by for the rest of it's life, but I've abandoned hope it'll ever pick up strong momentum, if it were going to, they'd have done it by now, they know people's spirits are dwindling with the long lead times and delays.

Just 3 more for the Fellowship! C'mon Sideshow. Geez, I wish the Faramir release had been Saruman or one of the 9.

Everyone loves different things and just because one line doesnt get the attention of others doesn't mean that line should go by the way side. Pokemon? It's a dead thing around my area. And I rarely hear a anything about it anymore. Do I think they shouldn't make any collectibles for it because I hate it and don't collect it? Not at all. And I doubt that LOTR is taking away from Pokemon!

As for Star Wars, I doubt that no line at SS gets the attention of Star Wars and to compare any other line to that is silly. There's plenty of product available to collectors in that line. There are also things within that line that they can't sell. Doesn't mean it should be scaled down.

There could be things going on that we just don't know about. Maybe SS wants to deliver more LOTR figures but things happening behind the scenes are preventing that.

I don't think they bothered making the new "hobbit" body just for two hobbitses!

I'm keeping the faith!:gandalf_w

If they announce a Gandalf the Grey PF I'll be canceling this in a second. The 1/6 really feels like a waste of time at the rate its being given. This is definitely one line that I wish I had just gone PF.

I like both, but the 1/6 format is more affordable to me. If you can afford both, then at the rate they release each line, why not have both? I would do that if I could. Going into other lines too has made me a bit skint!

I'd say this line is on life support. If nothing is shown at TF in Feb then I will have no choice but to believe it's dead. That way if something comes along during SDCC 09 it will be a great surprise.

If this line isn't dead, it's pretty damn close. Like a heartbeat or two away.

I just hope they follow through with GTG and that the production quality isn't lacking.

I seriously doubt this line is dead, they wouldn't have developed the Hobbit body just for Frodo and Sam without doing two headsculpts for Pippen and Merry. The only one I worry about them not doing is Gimli. We shall see.
