I'm not going to cancel my Gandalf. i love the LOTR line and think in many ways it beats the Star wars. particuarly on costumes and accessories. Even if the line ends I will be pleased i have them. My main regret will be that i don't have Aragorn.

As long as it takes for each piece to come out, I figure I'll just order it and by the time it gets to shipping, I'll be ready for it. I hope they continue the line. I want as many 1/6 as they're willing to make.

My thoughts exactly...
The thing is, that even though, SS assured a lot of fans during ComicCon that the line isn't dead, people refuse to believe it...
I for one, still believe SS because they haven't disappointed me...
yet...:monkey3

The whole problem with this is:

Sideshow regularly says that lines are not dead. And some of those lines go into hiatus for very long periods of time. Very long periods of time.

I'm keeping all of my SS LOTR 12" figs even if the line is dead. It's unfortunate, though, that we didn't get the complete Fellowship Nine done. THEN if the line were to go into "hiatus", at least the majority of collectors would have been satisfied with the limited run.

What's truly sad is that we'll never see the likes of Rohirrim, Gondorians, Easterlings, Orcs, etc., from this line. So much potential... sigh...

we were assured during either SDCC or Spook last year that SSC still intended to give us Jason's 5 & 8 to complete the set. The last jason figure being some 18 months ago.

They didn't. - 2 measely figures and they couldn't do it.

That's why I seriously doubt we will see a full fellowship. Better get Ada working on the Merry & Pippins now...

I really hope to be proven wrong but I'm not sure that I will.

On the bright side this at least is one case where there is NO WAY sideshow can tell us that they've 'done all of the major characters' until the Fellowship is complete.

I guess I'm missing something. IF SS decides that Gandolf is their last figure in this line, there's no way I'm getting rid of the figures that I already have. They are still a good representation of the movie and make a great display. I just don't understand why someone would get rid of them because it's taking so long between figures.

If HT decided that they weren't going to make anymore TDK figures, would you sell your Batman and Joker off? Would you sell off your SW 1/6 figures if they up and pulled the plug on those?

I'm stumped!

It's just the way some people are. And i agree with everything you said.

Let me say first of all that I don't have any plans to sell off my LOTR figures, but I think your comparison doesn't quite hold water. It would be more like if Hot Toys had released Rachel, Alfred, Harvey Dent, Lucius Fox, and Batman figures, but quit before making a Two-Face, Joker or Gordon. You could see how that might tick people off. No bad guys at all? Not even all of the important good guys?

Honestly with all of the stuff coming out this fall, I'm thinking something has to get the axe from me, and it will probably be Gandalf. I'm not saying never to him, but I may have to put him off for some time (and possibly get him cheaper) in order to save cash for the other things that are coming.

And yes, I know everyone will say "You're killing the line!" but one less person buying will not make a huge difference on a line that looks to be all but dead.

That I totally understand. I just can't see getting rid of several figures because they MIGHT not make anymore in that line.

Hopefully if you give up your Gandolf, I can get him. I'm on the waitlist for the exclusive. :D

Well, you know what I'm trying to say. :lol
