It saddens me, but I've had to give Gandalf the axe. I'll most likely pick him up for cheaper several months down the road when I don't have to worry about all the stuff that's coming up very soon. As is, I had to give up something, and he seems the easiest for me to part with for now. I don't mind if I miss out on this exclusive either. The journal is nice, but I wouldn't ever display him with it.

really looking forward to this one. hoping it comes out as beautifully done as the protos (well i can hope). probably my last sideshow fig for a while.

I can't wait to see how Gandalf turned out. This is probably the faastest that we have got a LOTR figure without waiting an extra 3 or so months.:D

The latest newsletter seems to indicate that he'll be shipping this November. I truly hope that's accurate. This figure was becoming the 12-inch equivalent of Duke Nukem Forever - always rumoured to be coming soon, but never actually appearing.

If it does ship in Nov or even Dec, it will already be considerably fast between the pre-order date of Mar this year and the expected shipping month.

Remember that we waited almost 1 whole year for the Hobbits!

I hope I don't have to temporarily axe him but his timing couldn't be worse right now, we'll see when it's do or die time.

I hope they at least announce a new figure soon... w/nothing in the hopper after Gandalf it does feel like curtains for this line.

It's funny how we like to read the tea leaves and figure out how good or bad a figure will be, or what even the fate of an entire line will be, just based on things like delays or lack thereof. Unfortunately, I don't think you can tell much of anything from that. It could just as easily be a bad sign -- that they rushed it through production because they knew the line was ending. I'm not saying that's true, mind you. But you can take it both ways.

I know. Just looking for something positive in the situation. I'm happy to atleast be getting Gandalf (I think; time will tell) but the idea that he's the last figure isn't something I'm ready to hear.

YES!!!! I'm just glad to see it coming... now would be a great time for the next announcement.

I think he's going to turn out well... Sideshow is particularly good at the paint work on older characters. The outfits is complicated as hell, but again hoping that since they made such a big deal about its accuracy the final product will be very good.
