Clone Kenobi slightly edges Gandalf out, but I think its more about the (groan) momentum of the lines. SW really seems to be ramping up, even more than before, and LOTR is just so painfully slow :monkey2

I'm hoping Sideshow drops something really fantastic on us to renew inerest in the line.

I want this guy to go right next to my frodo so it's a must for me.(but i won't be getting it through SS) I for one do not believe the line is dead, but we shall see soon enough i think.

I'm thinking of just keeping Aragorn and Frodo to go with Gandalf and letting Legolas and Boromir go. I like all of the figures, but thinking a small grouping of 3 would be better/more practical for my collection.

That was my original plan when the line was first announced. They're my three favorite characters, and I had no intention of getting deep into any line other than Star Wars. But Legolas and Boromir looked good. If this is the end, Aragorn, Frodo and Gandalf will likely be the ones I keep. And maybe Sam.

IMO, the money lost on Legolas and Boromir is reason to keep them. Not to mention, they are both damn good figures. Rotate in and out.

Yeah, no doubt... especially seeing Sam selling for $30 under retail makes it hard to want to sell them :lol Thing is I really like Boromir; think he came out great, but Legolas is kind of a dissapointment.

I was really angry when I first saw the production pics of Legolas. There was such a huge drop in the quality of his facial expression that I almost cancelled. But, I really wanted a Legolas figure, so I held on, and he's grown on me since. I assume it has a lot to do with the gradual loss of memory of what the prototype looked like.

Me too. He was awesome. His eyelids didn't droop at the outside corners, his brow wasn't raised in the middle. I'm pretty sure the difference was all paint, butit was apparently a conscious choice because all of the figures looked the same.

Would they have changed it to make him look less battle-ready? Because that was the original look on his face.

I know of someone here in the States who already has it! I can't disclose who it is, but I will share the good news of what he/she has said about it:

:google Can't wait! :joy

I got my 12" Gandalf the Grey. Looks like Sideshow is using some of Hot Toys head-making process, because these guys are NOT cast & painted like the previous SS heads. As for the figure... It's as much of a home run as their ol' Ben Kenobi. It looks STUNNING

If this is true i expect a lot of people that backed out cause the line was slow will jump back on HARD.(a kick ass GTG will be too hard to resist) And the low edition size of the ex (dunno what the reg is) will probably play in somewhat.

Man the contrast between the two is just painful :lol

Luckily he doesn't look that bad in person, but definitely not as nice as the proto :monkey2

The jaw line is horrid in the pics, but like you said GB, he doesnt look nearly that bad in person.
