Durant and Curry now have bragging rights saying they can win a finals at home and on the road
I don't understand what this post means. GS won the 2015 NBA Finals on the road in Cleveland. Sure, Durant wasn't on the 2015 team, but still.
I don't understand what this post means. "One" of the GOAT? Who are the others?
Hopefully this concludes Cle vs GSW finals..all but one a bore.....
Not that anyone else in the east would serve any better at this point simply done with the series. Praying for bad things to happen to the Warriors next year so neither team goes back.
The 2015 series was pretty good, IMO. That was the first series where we truly wondered if LeBron could carry an undermanned team on his own against a superior team. He got them to a 2-1 series lead as a volume scorer, but that's not who he is.
Well next years final 4 will be Golden St, Houston, Boston and whoever Lebron plays for so I'm guessing at least one more GS title. The only team that MIGHT disrupt that 4 is Philly but other than them... nope.
It would have been truly interesting to see Houston at full strength in Games 6 and 7. Obviously CP3, but although he gets less pub, Luc Mbah a Mounte was a huge addition to them this season as another 3 and D player. Yes, the Rockets came out to big leads in Games 6 and 7, but they couldn't sustain their offense.
Cavs organization should just pack it in. Be happy they got a championship. Sell the team to a city that's starving for a professional team.
Who wants to watch the Cavs without LeBron again? It sucked.
This could have been a competitive series. JR Smith cost them the chance. What a moron. The Blunder will live on in infamy forever.
Yeah, Cleveland will be in a bad spot after LeBron leaves.
The next question is where will James wind up.....Based on his age, I’d guess he wants to be on a contender but what one does he fit?
Houston -too many folks who dominate the ball
Wolves - maybe but not big enough market
Lakers - not ready
Boston - oh the humanity
Warriors - bye bye Desmond lol
It was already questioned when LeBron went to Miami about how he would coexist with DWade, another ball dominant guard, as it was questioned earlier this season about whether the Point God and Harden could coexist. They proved they could. Obviously, the dynamic changes when you add a third ball dominant player...but I think Houston could make it work. The key to me is exactly what LeBron mentioned in interviews when asked "how does a team beat GS?". He said "with high basketball IQs". Between CP3 and LBJ, they have two of the highest basketball IQs in the league.
The question is what would it cost to sign LeBron? They'd have to let Clint Capella go in restricted free agency, and possibly trade Eric Gordon. Ryan Anderson's contract is a HUGE albatross.
I don't see him going to LA unless it's already known that PG13 is headed there but even so...
Boston is intriguing. Be funny if LeBron convinces Danny Ainge to sign and trade Kyrie back to Cleveland for him, LOL. A lineup of James, Jason Tatum, Jaylon Brown, Horford, and Hayward could switch anything and match up fantastically with Golden State.
More than anything, LeBron needs to play under a GREAT coach. Though he has yet to win a championship, Brad Stevens is a fantastic coach, and one has to believe it's only a matter of time.
One more point before I close this season out for me: I am in no way diminishing Golden State's accomplishments, as winning three championships in three years is incredible and they are a dynasty, but they've had their share of luck.
-Kevin Love missed all of Cavs/Warriors I, and Kyrie was lost at the end of regulation in Game 1/beginning of overtime. It's a big "what if?" had both teams been at full strength (and in the interest of fairness, GS would most likely have won Game 5 of Cavs/Warriors II had Draymond not been suspended...having said that, they still had a Game 6 and Game 7 to close out).
-Steph's ankle injuries caused him to sign a team friendly contract before his championship run.
-The fact that KD's unrestricted free agency coincided with the HUGE cap jump.
-Injuries to Kawhi last year, and to Chris Paul this year.
Again, not diminishing Golden State's accomplishment. They've drafted well (Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, along with Harrison Barnes and Festus Ezeli - both gone now). But there is always some luck involved.
EDIT: They obviously drafted Steph Curry as well.
