Cavs organization should just pack it in. Be happy they got a championship. Sell the team to a city that's starving for a professional team.

Who wants to watch the Cavs without LeBron again? It sucked.

This could have been a competitive series. JR Smith cost them the chance. What a moron. The Blunder will live on in infamy forever.

Sorry George Hill cost them, so did the rest of the losers who couldn't make a shot

The next question is where will James wind up.....Based on his age, I’d guess he wants to be on a contender but what one does he fit?

Houston -too many folks who dominate the ball
Wolves - maybe but not big enough market
Lakers - not ready
Boston - oh the humanity
Warriors - bye bye Desmond lol

Durant and Curry now have bragging rights saying they can win a finals at home and on the road :lol

I don't understand what this post means. GS won the 2015 NBA Finals on the road in Cleveland. Sure, Durant wasn't on the 2015 team, but still.

Still one of the GOAT

I don't understand what this post means. "One" of the GOAT? Who are the others?

Hopefully this concludes Cle vs GSW finals..all but one a bore.....

Not that anyone else in the east would serve any better at this point simply done with the series. Praying for bad things to happen to the Warriors next year so neither team goes back.

The 2015 series was pretty good, IMO. That was the first series where we truly wondered if LeBron could carry an undermanned team on his own against a superior team. He got them to a 2-1 series lead as a volume scorer, but that's not who he is.

Well next years final 4 will be Golden St, Houston, Boston and whoever Lebron plays for so I'm guessing at least one more GS title. The only team that MIGHT disrupt that 4 is Philly but other than them... nope.

It would have been truly interesting to see Houston at full strength in Games 6 and 7. Obviously CP3, but although he gets less pub, Luc Mbah a Mounte was a huge addition to them this season as another 3 and D player. Yes, the Rockets came out to big leads in Games 6 and 7, but they couldn't sustain their offense.

Yeah, Cleveland will be in a bad spot after LeBron leaves.

It was already questioned when LeBron went to Miami about how he would coexist with DWade, another ball dominant guard, as it was questioned earlier this season about whether the Point God and Harden could coexist. They proved they could. Obviously, the dynamic changes when you add a third ball dominant player...but I think Houston could make it work. The key to me is exactly what LeBron mentioned in interviews when asked "how does a team beat GS?". He said "with high basketball IQs". Between CP3 and LBJ, they have two of the highest basketball IQs in the league.

The question is what would it cost to sign LeBron? They'd have to let Clint Capella go in restricted free agency, and possibly trade Eric Gordon. Ryan Anderson's contract is a HUGE albatross.

I don't see him going to LA unless it's already known that PG13 is headed there but even so...

Boston is intriguing. Be funny if LeBron convinces Danny Ainge to sign and trade Kyrie back to Cleveland for him, LOL. A lineup of James, Jason Tatum, Jaylon Brown, Horford, and Hayward could switch anything and match up fantastically with Golden State.

More than anything, LeBron needs to play under a GREAT coach. Though he has yet to win a championship, Brad Stevens is a fantastic coach, and one has to believe it's only a matter of time.

One more point before I close this season out for me: I am in no way diminishing Golden State's accomplishments, as winning three championships in three years is incredible and they are a dynasty, but they've had their share of luck.

-Kevin Love missed all of Cavs/Warriors I, and Kyrie was lost at the end of regulation in Game 1/beginning of overtime. It's a big "what if?" had both teams been at full strength (and in the interest of fairness, GS would most likely have won Game 5 of Cavs/Warriors II had Draymond not been suspended...having said that, they still had a Game 6 and Game 7 to close out).
-Steph's ankle injuries caused him to sign a team friendly contract before his championship run.
-The fact that KD's unrestricted free agency coincided with the HUGE cap jump.
-Injuries to Kawhi last year, and to Chris Paul this year.

Again, not diminishing Golden State's accomplishment. They've drafted well (Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, along with Harrison Barnes and Festus Ezeli - both gone now). But there is always some luck involved.

EDIT: They obviously drafted Steph Curry as well.

:lol you guys are forgetting Magic, Kareem, Chamberlain, etc

GOAT is about history ...NBA didn’t start ten years ago :lol

We have to remember basketball was played different back then . Better competition, refs let players play, etc

There is not GOAT. All you can say is greatest in his era (for any sport.) There are too may differences in rules and gameplay to compare eras. Jordan was best in his and LeBron is best in his.

:goodpost:

It really comes down to the era..one could say Kobe should be in the discussion for his time

May I just add, that was a pitiful end to Cavs in gm4 ..jeez they gave up, you don’t slap the fans in the face like that. Glad the analysts pointed this out , it taints the Warriors victory and it makes Lebron look bad moving forward

I absolutely don’t want Cavs representing the EC next finals . NBA doesn’t deserve this.

At least NHL, they played to win for Vegas despite being beat down .

That whole best of his era is crap. Jordan = highest career PER (29.1) of any player in NBA history, 10 scoring titles (in 11 full seasons with bulls), 9 all defensive teams (11 seasons), scoring champ and defensive player of the year, led the league in steals 3 times, and six finals mvp. It's not even close. Yeah, there are differences in the game and rule changes, but beyond the stats, he was a complete sociopath obsessed with winning at everything, not just basketball. Magic, Bird, Wilt, Russell, James, and Karem all have great accomplishments, but also questionable moments in the finals or competition. Jordan has no holes in his game or any blemishes. His only flaw was leaving to play baseball, but he always intended to quit basketball and playing a different sport.

Well nobody can take away Jordan winning the finals with a 100 + fever , that in my book will always make him the god of NBA

Yeah, it was actually food poisoning from a bad pizza the night before, but yeah, he looked like he was dying out there. Didn't quit, scored 40 in an important game.

People also forget that in his last finals game, Pippen was hurt in the first quarter and was useless that entire game, so had the Jazz won that game, the Bulls might have lost the series, but MJ went for 45 pts, played defense, had the clutch steal and final shot to win the series. I'll take MJ over anyone.

It’s no doubt why Kerr is a great coach..he was blessed with having played with GOAT and a HOF coach in Jackson :lol

Exactly. MJ was a straight killer. He can win in any era. He got clobbered every time he drove to the rim and still managed to have the highest post and regular seaon scoring average in the history of the game. Arm on the back, hand checking, and physical D around the basket are a thing of the past. What would MJ be able to do in today's NBA where you can't even touch another player? Answer...anything he damn well pleases.

Yes, plus he would have gotten better at shooting the 3. He wouldn't be as good as Curry, that's a whole different level, but prime MJ would be a problem for any team. I'd love to see what MJ and Lebron would do together as a team. They would terrorize the NBA.

I dont think anyone in this thread has ever argued Lebron is better than mj, but it always gets brought up here lol. The only debate would be who is best in the post mj era. I do have Lebron in my top 5 of all time though.

As far as where Lebron goes next. It was already brought up that he mentioned basketball IQ importance, which will probably matter the most in deciding where to go. I look at all his options. Bos could easily trade Kyrie for more good role players and add Lebron there.

Phi has lots of potential, but very limited experience and their coach definitely made plenty of mistakes vs boston. If we go to the West, even if LA gets PG, that roster is full of young guys with no playoff experience. That brings me to SA. Lebron has maybe 5-7 years left in the league. Kawhi is 26 right now, so they could make a formidable duo for the rest of his career. Kawhi is very capable of being the 2nd best player in the league. You then have Pop, who Lebron already loves and has played for before.

So.....I think he should go to Bos if they are willing to start Rozier and trade Kyrie. That team would be incredible with that experienced youth. Spurs would be the 2nd best option with Kawhi and Pop.

But you can't prove any that which is why you can't make someone better than anyone else for all time. All you can judge is how dominate they were in their day. I agree Jordan PROBABLY would average 50 today but there is no prof and no way to know for sure.

Finals not season..Curry had a dismal game 3 . Durant was balling all sweep. Right choice

Curry was really bad game 3, he just missed shots...but he was being double teamed and trapped. He still should have scored 20+. Clearly the Cavs made the decision that Steph wasn’t going to be the guy to beat them, so that left KD shooting over players like George Hill after a defensive switch.

That being said, KD was very bad game one. He was 8 of 22, very inefficient. He had three bad games in a row like this starting in game 6 of the Houston series.

Steph played really well in 3 of 4 final games, I think he was just so bad in game 3 he lost the mvp votes. It was really a close call to me, and I wish they gave it to Steph just so he finally got one. I doubt he really cares.
