Good question, Gentle Giant's track record for releasing information isn't the greatest IMO.

It's a question of taste of course but think it might be easier to create a custom base for this one then change the elements of the sculpt that I dislike about SS pf.

I was admiring the GG Artemisia statue earlier. I didn't order it, but I also didn't make it out alive. I ordered the Black Widow.
As Gasdoc pointed out she can be displayed with a custom base, but the figure is badass.

While I think the Artemisia statue is great looking, the Black Widow statue is indeed the better of the two IMO. You made a wise choice.

Regarding the custom base. I seriously think there is some money to be made for a a sculpter here. I think LOTS would buy a kit for painting or want painted versions if someone did this. I would be happy to commission one actually, if someone talented was interested.

I feel the same about the base...at least going by the pics. I may feel differently once the statue is actually on the shelf and real world circumstances take over.
For instance, dust (and cleaning the dust) may muddy the surface with tiny scratches. It might discolor more quickly over time...etc
I don't think at this point anyone can actually say just how good this piece is because there is a a pretty big gulf here between the photos and what's going to wind up in our hands.
I hope it looks at least as good as the one that was on view for CES. If they can match that, I'll be mighty happy.
