It's not greed if they don't stand a chance to make anything off the thing. :lol At this point the only greedy gesture would be to price it under $100 so that everyone would buy it.

I didn't swallow the 'high cost of the licensing' excuse, as a justification for the Wampa price (see Jakks Pacific's 31" Star Wars figure pricing, for the reason why).. so I'm certainly not buying into it for an Alien (NECA have been there in 1/4 scale) figure.. that is all.

:goodpost: Super7 and Funko Just released the Alien ReAction figures and they don’t exactly break the bank.
If licensing for that one figure was so high what sense would there be in acquiring it? If the Wampa excuse was legitimate you have to wonder how they don’t see the potential loss on their part.

With the Wampa in mind, this Alien figure is going to be a lot more than $150 I'm afraid. Which sucks for us. GG probably isn't going to make very many in my estimation. We'll see.

At that price you're better off just putting your money toward the original Kenner Alien instead.

I already have a Kenner Alien and an original Tsukuda Alien (which was technically just a Kenner Alien recast by Tsukuda in hard black vinyl back in the middle to late eighties). I love the original Giger Alien (got a Cinemaquette to prove it). It's my favorite of the bunch. That's why I wouldn't mind to have the GG one.

As much as I love my cm, I wish the head looked more like the giger signed ( and supervised) hcg head...the profile is correct...
But I don't mind too much-- for me, the kenner alien is the standard, because it's the one I grew up with, and so this jumbo gg is a must buy!

That's cool that you already have it, I'm just saying for the rest of us it's stupid to spend that kind of money on a "Repro." No way these should cost that much.

I want to see this next to the big chap maquette which is about 4" taller. Should be interesting :lol

Not if the original is
1.NOT in mint condition
2. Too expensive at 400-600 in fair used condition
3. Too expensive to buy mint at 800 usd...

If I wanted a kenner alien and I am gonna spend 200 plus on an alien, instead of getting a used, probably beat up figure,
I'd rather it's new, better quality, much much bigger, and by design still a replica of a classic toy.

Plus the repro is BIGGER
6" doesn't sound like a big difference, but we are talking about 30% bigger...
This is a very large toy, that'll make you feel like a kid again carrying that monstrous alien...

I just hope ( considering vader was about 175,) that these are no more than that Wampa....

I have the o.g. Kenner alien ...it was virgin mint, and i opened it, and it's great! But even over the last 35 plus years, those elastic bands that keep the arms in place get a little loose...(I hope gg is using something more resilient...would I pick the kenner over the gg?

Only If I can get a misb for the exact same price if not less...

Cool beans. The Kenner one is about 17-18" tall. The GG one is 24" tall and from a completely new mold/sculpt that just happens to be based on the Kenner one.

Well that sucks. Already have the one they did a few years ago so won't be needing this.

So it's really not a repro if it's going to be 6" bigger. An that 6" is where they reason the extra cost.

Which one, the neca?

Yeah the 18" one I believe. Don't need anything larger.

So it's 24" like all of the 1/4 scale figures the've been pumping out lately AND a new sculpt. Nothing Kenner "repro" about it so no reason to gouge hundreds of dollars for something "new." It should be in the same price point as the quarter scale Avengers and Batman figures.

No it's not a "new" sculpt...it's been mechanically enlarged...scanned and output, basically...a larger, faithful, exact facsimile of the kenner-- in hopefully better or equivalent quality in workmanship and materials...

Meh. Not interested. I'd rather put that kind of money toward an original.

I'm excited to get this one!
Love the giger alien and since the number of collectible figures surrounding this guy is so limited til now..the more the merrier!

I made sure I also got the vader repro...I still have my original kenner figure, but it's cool to display side by side...but then again I like different iterations of particular characters, so I'm fine with it.

I do hope that neca re-releases the 18" as promised, with improved sculpting ... Not just the articulation....but I appreciate that he can finally be posed in any way without compromising the cut joints...

But if you are looking for the ultimate alien, then most def this kenner is not it...
might be the new improved neca, but really...if a Roswell just used the molds they have for that resin alien and made a Figure, that'd be the best possible use of that sculpt...1/5 scale figure...last company who had that was tsukuda ....

any idea when this guy will be released? it looks fantastic and I would love to get one, but if it IS going to be around $400 I will unfortunately have to pass, that price seems like it's almost a joke
