I love the ringwraith bust, going to have to think about getting it....looks like I'm going to starve for a couple of days, but very much worth it.

You had better think fast! Most places are sold out of this one--and with allocations, not everybody who preordered prior to the release will be getting one, much less those who are still on the fence about it.

I don't get it, what's the big deal? The Weta Ringwraith Bust is still available for retail. Why would the GG version ever be worth more?

Scarcity. And the fact it is a bedrock piece in the new GG collection. There are a ton of diehard GG fans out there... and lots of LOTR fans (some who collected GG and some who didn't - but now will). Combine this with a great sculpt (especially with the metal sword), low edition size and you've got a hot item.

Like Tom said... these should be flooding ebay right now. Most places have shipped or will be very soon. And it's hard to find even one in stock anywhere. Simply amazing!

There is no Star Wars bust (in terms of edition size with this sculpt quality) to compare it to. The early Star Wars busts had 2500 pieces but had no arms and the sculpts were a bit lacking for many. Even still most of those now top $100! But some of the scarce early clones (the red Captain clone at 1250 made) sell for $400-$450. Now this won't fetch those prices... but I would not be surprsied to see it at $250 in three years time.

Both Strider and the Ringwraith are excellent, picked up mine a bit earlier today.

No ring though and both of my boxes were opened and inspected when I picked them up and I know the Comic Shop didn't do it, they came in while I was there waiting.

Really would like to see a ring though.

As to the Ring... *WARNING*

Yesterday I got to see and inspect the one Adam got. It is EXACTLY the Sterling Silver Edition Noble Collection Ring, including the very SAME certificate (which mentions the wooden display box)!!! There is nothing special about it to denote that it came with the GG bust! This is the ring which is included...

https://www.noblecollection.com/catalog/product.cfm?id=NN9269&catid=17

So be forewarned, if you are tempted to purchase a bust with the Ring included, make absolutely sure it is from a dealer or person you trust, as anyone could put one of the Nobel Rings in there and claim it came with it!!!

*WARNING* over...

I don't quite understand the warning.

If somebody decided to add a ring to the bust and I buy it - great, what's wrong with that? As you say, there is no difference to the ring, so I don't see the problem.

Or are you assuming that "busts with ring" will appreciate over time and people will be paying more for a "bust with ring" then for a bust and a ring individually?

YES! They are already fetching $250 or more on eBay!!!

Check this auction for instance...

https://cgi.ebay.com/GENTLE-GIANT-LOTR-STRIDER-BUST-WITH-THE-ONE-RING-INCL_W0QQitemZ120092841545QQihZ002QQcategoryZ86935QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The MSRP of the Ring is $129 and of the bust is $50, so together, they should sell for no more than $179, and that would be full retail price.

They didn't even number the ring's COA as # out of 100? So anyone could add a ring and COA to the bust and drive up the price? Good job, GG.

Well, there was no number on the front side that was showing, and Adam agreed it was the same cert since he had sold many of them before. We didn't actually open the bag to inspect the back of the cert, but I would be willing to bet there was nothing added.

I doubt GG would go through any trouble specifically numbering these.

They didn't really go through much effort trying to hide them in the first place - you can cherry pick a "ring bust" just by opening the box.

:duff Cheers for an honest retailer like Adam! :duff

Yup... these rings will get cherry picked by dishonest dealers. Order from someone you trust if you really care about a chance at a ring. I am surprised GG didn't come up with a better packaging solution to get these things hidden. Heck... just don't pack-in the COA and have people mail away for it. That is what gives it away.

Anyone who pays more than $170-$180 for a bust with a ring isn't being smart. Just buy a ring yourself if you want it...

Right now... two people on GGC.com have pulled rings from busts. One of them is BlueSnaggletooth aka BlueSnags who posts here once in a great while.
