Alright gang, got the second batch of pics back from Ada of Peter. She did make his hair messy, but didn't go off any of the Ghostbuster pics I sent reference so still doesn't have actual Venkman hair. It's like messier STRIPES hair. Then while she did appear to make changes to his profile, she didn't send an actual straight-on profile pic. Nor did she send a pic showing scale. I'm writing her back for additional pics now. In the meantime, please critique!

Venkman hair reference I sent last time-

I don't mean to be negative about the sculpt ..but when I first saw the pics they instantly reminded me of this guy:

..I hope with the tweaks, Ada will make the sculpt look more accurate of Billy Murray. Great work on putting this commission together! :)

I know this is a little late, but I think the main problem I have with the sculpt is the cheeks. She's replicated the puffiness in the cheeks found in the Stripes photo, but in reality his cheeks don't look like that. It looks like he's got something in his mouth.

I agree--V2 nailed the chin much better, but the cheeks are a little too puffy. If she thinned the cheeks a little and added hair, I think he would be close enough for me. I think too the cheeks might look better once a couple coats of paint hit them, but w/o it they definitely look a little puffed up.

I think this has been a good learning experience - first, make everything REAL SIMPLE because that's the best way to avoid errors and secondly don't try and mix and match photos from different movies to get one face sculpt with a facial expression from this movie and hair from this one. That's okay to do if you're standing behind the sculptor in the same room and you share a first language, but otherwise... As someone who has previously sent prototypes to the Orient (not toys) along with what I thought were clear instructions on its manufacture, and then watched with horror as something entirely different has returned, I can only applaud Shats for having the balls to take on this thing.

I agree. I think this will still turn up to be a fine sculpt. I have the old "15th generation" Andgor head for my Peter Venkman now, but I can't wait to get Ada Chan's.

Ha, thanks man! Honestly, this is the seventh head I've done with her and I think we have a good working relationship going by now. I can't say how she might treat other people, but she's always been very polite and up front with me. At the same time, maybe she makes more concessions for me because of that too. She's also been talking to me in more than two word converastions recently, which is also nice (she seems to speak English pretty well, so maybe she does have help answering e-mails and stuff which is how things get missed. I dunno).

As far as maybe not choosing pictures as reference from different movies in the future, I will admit that almost every head I've had commissioned from her so far has been characters from tv shows, except for Bishop and Newt from Aliens and Tall Man from Phantasm, and those pics all came from a single movie, so maybe you're right. It's a contradictory bag actually, because her own site says she's more than willing to take a smile from this photo and hair from this one. To avoid confusion though, I think not mixing movie pics is the best plan (and the Stripes pic was done because that's what we all voted for at the beginning).

Say, did anyone want to see the newest batch of revised photos from Ada? Did you see how I made you read all my crap first? Ha ha! Personally, I would approve the sculpt here. I really like the side view of the hair. Could we tinker with little things here and there? Yes. Would that be the start of us being kind of obnoxious? (laugh). Yeah.
So let me know if we're good here so I can tell her.

Also, now I REALLY need the remainder of the Venkman commission payments (so I can pay her for your casts who hasn't paid yet). I'm hoping to pay her for everything by Monday so she can get them ready and shipped off to us within a few weeks if we approve this. :)

I'm not apart of this comm. but I think this is looking really good.

The V.3 is looking a whole lot more like Murray in those side shots. I'm sure that when the sculpt is painted that Bill/Venkman's likeness will come through very well! Great work to everyone who made this possible :D

i wasn't a part of the original commission, but if you need someone to pitch in to help finish with payments, let me know cause, I'm definitely down with seeing this sculpt as of version 3...chris

Thanks, magiccs. You can definitely get in still if you'd like to order one.

The door is still open for anyone who wants to join in and get one, you just have a very limited time to get payments in now (by Monday).

The cost is $25 for a head, (which covers part of his actual commissioning cost!), + $5 Shipping. Additional heads of him are then just $15 each if you want extras, each painted head is $10 extra.

But, getting your 1:6 Bill to ride in a repainted Mattel "High School Musical" golf cart and give tourists rides to ther hotels? That's PRICELESS!
:banana

I think we have struck gold with rev 3 and I wouldn't change anything further. I think you did a great job communicating the changes necessary for the hair and I think the only thing the head is lacking is a good paint job to make it pop.

Bravo. This sculpt looks excellent the way it is! Congratulations on accomplishing this feat!!!

wow this looks great. i just have to check with the finances to see about payment. can you pm me the where and how. i have come to this thread periodically but i don't know where that info is. (watch it be on the first page and i just missed it because of the pictures).
