Just read this on Toy News:

TNI: Will the new Zartan figure have color change ability?

Hasbro: No, we decided it to put the resources against a new Swamp Skiier which looks great!
I'd rather not have the color change ability to be honest, it made the figure look inhuman. And if it means we get the Swamp Skier, then I'm all for it!

Also I remember in the past the old Zartan would not catch color as quick and not change back to normal after a while, he was stuck or even a lil darker, permanent tan son LOL!!!

Not like they would use this technology nowadays but anything but putting ole Zartan out for sun damage!!!

Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

Homage. I remember reading on a fan site awhile back that Hasbro would be inluding a figure called Trakker, which was an homage to Matt Trakker from MASK.

Some more info on this (if its already been posted oh well):

Remember that G.I. Joe poll which allowed fans to vote on the characters they wanted included in the 25th Anniversary line? Looks like the oddly named "Specialist Trakker" was one of the winners, and as rumored, he ain't no Joe—he's Matt Trakker, better known as the head of the Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, a.k.a. MASK. Hisstank.com snagged this pic of him in his new 3 and 3/4-inch glory, along with his mask (natch) and an odd helicopter backpack which should totally not sate MASK fans hoping for an actual in-scale vehicle. Specialist Trakker is part of Wave 11, and should be available in November.

As for a relaunch of MASK itself, getting Trakker and a few of his buddies in the new Joe line might be as good as it's going to get. The MASK fansite Matt-Trakker.com reports that "Hasbro no longer owns the rights to the M.A.S.K. name or any variation. The marketing team had gone through SEVERAL versions including even calling it M.A.S.C. (Mobile Armored Strike Command) but nothing flew legally. This presents a huge challenge in terms of a re-launch." Plus, retailers hate vehicles, since they take up so much shelf space, and vehicles were the whole damn point of MASK. I guess what I'm saying is, if you want a figure of Miles Mayhem, buy every Specialist Trakker figure you see.

Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

Well buying three of the 25th Anniversary figs (Stalker, Destro, and Major Bludd) finally inspired me to break some of my collection out of storage and to put it on display...

No worries. It's called a Protech Deluxe Acrylic Display Case and I got it awhile ago from my Canadian on-line supplier but they sold out pretty quickly.

Here's the description:

Low cost, high performance shadow box. Displays 24 Star Wars, GI Joe's, or similar scaled action figures. Now in a mirrored compartment version. Each is 2.1" x 2.1" x 4.9". Large enough for various action figure foot stands.

Durable plastic construction
100% acrylic front sliding door
Holes for wall mounting
For use with 2" round action figure stands.

It ran for about $40.

I've got tons of other stuff (like the PIT base) that I'd love to display but I've just got no room in my office at home for it--storage it remains.:banghead

:lol That's why I'm only those figs that really have some type of place in my jaded GI Joe heart (Stalker, Destro, and Major Bludd)... Not sure if I need to get anymore... Maybe Zartan.

Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

Zartan was my "White Whale." The figure I always wanted but was too late to get. By the time i was interested in G.I. Joe, you couldn't find him on the pegs, and in a pre-internet-in-every-home world, there wasn't much to be done.
Later, a friend of mine traded me for his and I had one for a little while. But my dog chose Zartan of all the toys on the floor to chew to bits. I kept the pieces in a little box for a while. Sad. Very sad. I may get the classic version.

You were looking in the wrong place. He wasn't on pegs, he was on the shelf in his box!!!! :p

Actually, funny thing. I lived in Korea at the time, and he WAS on the pegs. They put him on a cardback with original art and everything.

Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

Well since you were there, then yes, you should have got that carded version! Love that "running man" artwork.

Did you end up burrying the box in the backyard?--- Cause, you know, that'd be sadder.:lol:D

Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

Eventually I tossed all the unusable parts. I still had the chest piece and backpack with mask inside it! Now, I'm trying to sell them.

Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

It must be a dog thing...my Basset Hound decided my 25th hooded Cobra Commander looked pretty tasty about a year ago. Thankfully, I picked up a replacement cheap :duh

Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

I had a nice little surprise the other day, while rummaging through some boxes I discovered a stash of older Joes.
So I still have the original Dusty and Original Storm Shadow version 2. Both are in excellent condition as I think I bought these later from a friend to replace my long gone beaten and battered Joes. Too bad they're both missing their weapons and packs.

It goes to show you how much I liked version 2 of Storm Shadow. :D
Can't wait to get the 25th Dusty and compare the two now!
