I had high hopes for Van Helsing when I saw it opening weekend in the theatre-- The opening few minutes with the black and white was intriguing (until "Dracula"'s appearance... I could see the downhill turn at that point)...

I have absolutely no hope for this film. I just hope that after it fails miserably a real fan with a realistic vision grabs ahold of the property to do it right in a few years.

Speaking of Sommers, a couple hours ago I got in a heated discusion with my brother's fiance over how terrible Van Helsing I thought it was.

one of the worst movies I ever saw. the best part was the first 5 minutes in black and white. all downhill after that.

I've never actually been able to sit through all of it. The concept is a good, Van Helsing being a vampire hunter and all, but the execution is sorely lacking.

Yeah, I remember the scorpion king creature looking almost like a paper doll compared to the rest of his surroundings. Barely even looked like the Rock too if I recall correctly, pretty bad for '01. The toys were just as bizarre looking.

i've seen some movies that were lower quality... but i've never hated a movie as much as i hate van helsing...

it is noxiously bad.

the cinematic equivalent of toxic waste.

and this joe movie looks to be even worse.

I think sixthscale said it best. While VAN HELSING is undoubtedly a bad movie, there are worse ones. There is just something about it that transcends that and actually offends you as a viewer and embarrasses you for watching it. And G.I. JOE is cut from that same cloth. It looks like a movie that actually has disdain for its own audience.

Worst of all, these aren't even that types of movies that are so bad they are fun to watch for that reason. These are the type that are so bad that they make you want to punch someone in the face.

I'm not nine. I'm 17. Irish is just giving me crap. The script being entertaining doesnt make the movie good. A good script can be ^^^^ty with a bad director.
