Just got back from Star Trek and it was interesting to see what happened during the trailers. People laughed at the "Up" trailer, chuckled during "the night at the museum" and "Year 1" trailers. I heard Ohhh's and Ahhh's during the Salvation trailer, excited cheers during the Transformers trailer and then the Joe trailer came up. I heard a couple sarcastic "oh my god's" and one specific "this looks like crap!" comment coming from some twentysomethings behind me. Ugh. I kinda felt a little ashamed to be a Joe fan right then and there as I saw the accelerator suit sequence on the big screen for the first time. It looked kinda silly on my computer screen but it looks ri-goddam-diculous seeing it on the big screen. I have to say, I am seriously thinking about skipping this film as I don't want to have to walk out of it. Thanks Sommers.

I'm not nine. I'm 17. Irish is just giving me crap. The script being entertaining doesnt make the movie good. A good script can be ^^^^ty with a bad director.

i hate to tell you there is absolutely nothing that you told us about that script that doesn't already suck...

nothing you cited was even remotely good.

the stuff that wasn't idiotic was hugely cliched...

this was not a good script.

no director can save this film without massive rewrites...

and a hack like sommers is just going to compound the moronic script with his terrible sensibilities until it becomes even worse than the sum of it's parts...

it's like a perfect storm of cinematic crap.

a movie this bad doesn't come around very often...

this will make van helsing seem like the godfather.

Van Helsing" is an effective pastiche of classic horror characters like the werewolf, Frankenstein and Dracula. This scene shows Dracula at his existentially emptiest, going through a ritual of mock emotions with his "wives", though unable to hide his frustations of not experiences any real life anymore. A great scene.

it's like a perfect storm of cinematic crap.

:lecture An apt description.

Here are the main ingredients of G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA...

Bad script.

Producer who knows nothing about the subject matter.

Hack director.

Cheesy-to-flat out laughable designs.

Horribly miscast actors.

Bad CGI (in a big-budget Summer event flick).

This film has absolutely no chance of being anything other than we expect: a complete mess and waste in every way.

You can have your opinions, and I can have mine. I enjoyed the short read. It was fun, stupid, and entertaining.

Was it a good script in the sense that it's like TDK? No...but if it was done right, could've have been a fun movie? Yes.

Joe is a fairly big part of the mid 20-30 year old's childhood. A lot of folks will be excited to see a movie but when they don't recognize squat they'll be a bit miffed. Just my jaded opinion of course, but I think the target audience should be adults rather than kids. Yes kids buy the toys, but adults buy the tickets and the eventual dvds...

well no offense but considering the fact that you weren't even born yet when Joe was cool... your opinions of how enjoyable the script was to you are going to have to be taken with a grain of salt by those of us who experienced the 80's.

this just may be a case of "you hadda be there"...

The original era of RAH really did start going downhill around 1987 or so. There was really only a 3-5 year period when it was truly awesome. THAT is what many of us are holding onto.

Probably....
\
I get ya, dont worry. I'm just saying, the script...to me, wasnt as horrible as I thought i'd be.

I have low expectations for the flick, but i'm curious to watch it.

Could very well be.

Trailers are very weird...for instance, in the trailers...

Wolverine looked so awesome...

and Serenity looked like crap.

It's hard to trust trailers anymore for me....

i think my childhood wept, my inner child wept, and i wept seeing that...
it's like...that proverbial moment when getting told or finding out 'there is no Santa'.

I saw the trailer in the theater before Star Trek and when the Gi Joe logo flashed across the screen the whole theater burst into laughter! :lol True story!
