If this movie is ruining your childhood, then you obviously didnt like your childhood...if it got destroyed because of a crappy movie...:lol

Cobra Commander still looks ^^^^ty...and I have to agree, those suits are weak. Not the Acell ones, but the normal ones. Camo would've looked better...and would've been cheaper.

Regarding the trailer (I had not seen any till the Star Trek previews) if I hadn't seen Snake Eyes and the Gi JOE logo across the screen, I would never have know what the hell movie it was :rotfl

it's an expression, nothing was truly ruined, but thank you for your concern.
You seem to be one of the few waiting on bated breath for this movie, and not having as much negativity for it, so... have at it.

All the people that have told me about how cool this movie looks so far don't know a thing about GI Joe.

After I tell them how bad it is and how many things they have changed about the original plot and characters they tell me something like: "really? I only remember the toys" "I didn't know GI Joe had a story"

:lecture :lecture :lecture That seems to be a somewhat consistent vein in the posts of the pro-movie freaks here too. But let's not forget, per Hasbro, this movie's being made for the "hardcore Joe fans." :yuck

I know...but I hate that expression.

And yeah, i'm waiting to see. I liked Sommer's early films like The Mummy and Deep Rising...but hate the rest. (I sorta dig Returns). And I dont know much about GI Joe...other then the obvious. And I hate what they did to CC...

So I dont know.

Are you serious? That's the first I've heard of that happening, anywhere. You must have just been unlucky enough to be in the dumbest theater in America at that moment in time.

Well, it was for Star Trek so... :dunno

I actually liked Star Trek though. I was surprised by that. I've never seen a single Trek episode, but I've heard enough of the jokes about the show to get most of the laughs.

But yeah, I wanted to cry because of the positive reaction. As an action movie, it looks decent, but as GI JOE it sucks. So far from the original designs and everything it isn't even funny. I still want to know who's idea was the accelerator suits? I mean, come on. Just because Iron Man was a hit last year doesn't mean GI JOE needs knock-off Iron man suits.

Just imagine how awesome this movie could have been if Sideshow had only designed the outfits? That alone might have been able to save the movie.

that's part of the problem with hollywood. they have their heads in the wrong place, but their hearts in the right one. It's great that they want to do a Joe movie... but ignoring the established ideas to the degre that they did is CLOSE to a slap to the fandom.

It COULD still work, but I really, realy doubt it.

Like was said earlier, good action movie, lousy joe flick.

to quote the director " Like mission impossible 3 with Ninja fights"
........ who thought that was a good idea?

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

My point being that even though the movie is a radical departure from everyone's candy coated memories of what the Joes were... It's not like Hasrbo themselves didn't make outlandish costume choices. Compared to some of the toys made, the movies costumes are relatively conservative.

I have been a Joe fan since I bought my first figure (Snake-Eyes) and 1982 when they first came out. I was 9 years old at the time and have collected Joe ever since. I even liked Sigma 6 and Sgt. Savage. My older brother collected the ORIGINAL 12" joes and he didn't have an anuerism when the 82 line came out... Those weren't HIS Joes but he understood that GI Joe had become a CODENAME, not just a person. Things change, it's out of our hands sometimes... GI Joe has been trying to exist as a movie for as long as the toyline has been around. Unfortunately when Transformers came out and was a success, Hollywood said "GREAT! What other toy properties can we mine?" and this was ready to go. This was bad timing however because we're in the middle of a rather unpopular war and Hollywood, wanting to reap GLOBAL profits, not just domestic, made some rather hair-brained concessions... i know it sounds like I am defending the movie, but not really. If you don't want to see it, fine. I just got tired of seeing all the posts talking about the "old days" like they are holy and without fault. There were some turd designs back then too!!
