The new GI Joe movie toys are out now. I couldn't resist picking up Cobra Commander just because of how horrible he is. He's a decent toy, but a terrible Cobra Commander. I might pick up the Baronness when I find her now as she at least resemble's her character. Then I might do the SDCC Destro pack, but I'm not touching the Joes (maybe just a Snake Eyes) or Stormshadow.

my father called me this afternon. he and my grandfather were at the beach (jersey shore) and a black blackhawk slowly crossed the horizon just over the water. it had big white gi joe logo on it and was dangling a guy dressed like snake eyes from a stabo harness.

you know it's gonna be bad when they go THAT far to promote it.

WOW, how strapped for cash must the ARMY be, to lower itself to promote this turd of a movie.

I don't see how a stunt like that is going too far to promote the movie. GI joe is supposed to be military based so they used military to promote it. Bay had a yellow Camaro at many car shows and races promoting ROTF, Same thing.

This is the reason that somebody should start a support group or something, Action Figures Anonymous. :huh

"Hi, my name's Buttmunch, and today, I almost bought a ROC Cobra Commander." :p

Looks like di Bonventura is going to f-up another '80s icon (although I can't see this being any good regardless). Granted, the article's writer doesn't seem to know the difference between "Director" and "Producer".

Asteroids Coming To Theatres As A Movie
5 July 2009 6:31 PM, PDT

Classic 1980s computer game Asteroids is crashing onto the big screen - the arcade hit is set for a Hollywood movie makeover.

Universal Pictures bosses have snapped up the rights to make a film out of Asteroids, and are said to have given G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra director Lorenzo Di Bonaventura the job of breathing life into the project.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bedtime Stories screenwriter Matthew Lopez will provide a storyline for the Atari game.

not even close. a yellow camaro provided free of charge by chevy because it's in the movie is a lot cheaper than custom painting, fueling, and crewing a uh-60, and the stunt man to fly up and down the NJ coast for a few hours. the army (if it was, i have my doubts, most likely a civie model) didn't supply it for free.

if it was a militray promotion the bill of sale would include the following.
JP8 is expensive, two CW2's to pilot and at least an E-6 crew chief getting TDY pay, and some stunt guy in black pajama's tied to a stabo probably doesn't exactly get scale. also the price of repainting said bird back to a more useful color. never mind the flight permits and coast guard back up if something went wrong.

yeah definitely going much further than a static camaro display at talledega or daytona, or whatever nascar event.

i don't care, i'm not seeing it, i lived a realistic version of it.
