Re: I know it's only 12 reviews, but I am a bit shocked!

i wonder how you feel when you're an actor and by contract have to go around promotting a movie you know is bad?

i don't think i could do it. at least not with a straight face. i'd also be dissapointed if i signed on to a movie and shortly into i realize it's going to be "so bad it's . . . . well bad"

i guess for the sequel they'll take it in a different direction and bring in cobra la (and maybe some furry ewokish type creatures for the comic relief part of course) :monkey3

Re: I know it's only 12 reviews, but I am a bit shocked!

They might be proud of it....aside from JGL, none of these actors are top class anyway....anything to get their name out. Heh.

Re: I know it's only 12 reviews, but I am a bit shocked!

Actually...thinking about it more now, i'd give it a 6, or a 5.8. It was just alright. Kinda meh now....thinking back on it. I forgot most of the movie...which isnt a good sign.

But i've seen worse films.

Re: I know it's only 12 reviews, but I am a bit shocked!

I feel asleep watching it.... I wanted to leave so bad but my nephew wanted to stay... i would not pay to watch this movie again... not even in rental...

Re: I know it's only 12 reviews, but I am a bit shocked!

Y'know thats the funny thing...it felt longer then TF2...even though it wasnt....?

The effects were ass though. Pure ass. Every ship looked unrendered.

But the vehicals, dispite the CGI, were pretty neat. Snake Eyes was the highlight, but he needed more screen time. Storm Shadow was cool....\

If they do a sequel, they should do some recasts. Or something. But JGL was an awesome Cobra Commander, dispite the crappy vagina mask.

Re: I know it's only 12 reviews, but I am a bit shocked!

Anyone of you jotos who see this movie, dont speak to me again.

While you're at it, put me on igonre. I dont even want you looking at my posts.
i would not of have watched it if my 11 yr old nephew wasn't bugging me all week to take him.. It was funny because he said that CC was dumb looking! hahaha... Even he didn't like it that much..

Re: I know it's only 12 reviews, but I am a bit shocked!

I hated the end though. Not the end end...but where they
captured Cobra Commander....yeah, so much for the Rise of Cobra....when you're in jail.

Or the best.....I mean, i'm giving an honest review here. Free of bias or anything. I dont know....it probably isnt worth spending 10 bucks on.

Re: I know it's only 12 reviews, but I am a bit shocked!

I saw it last night for free, so no money money wasted, just time I could have been sleeping. It was okay, enjoyed the first 3/4 of it. The tech is cool and I liked Duke and Ripcord. Here's the thing, the rest of the movie could have sucked if Sommers got Snake Eyes and Stormshadow right. Turns out that was the complete opposite. SE and SS were ridiculous! Ra's Al Ghul's ninjas looked more like SE than SE in the G.I.Joe movie :banghead SS was Emo SS complete with bangs hanging out of his eye hole in his mask. Whoever decided to put the stupid looking mouth on SE no longer deserves the right to breath. More importantly than looks, their fights weren't even exciting or anything new.

How do you ^^^^ up Snake Eyes? Ask Stephen Sommers, he'll find a way. That said I didn't hate the movie. It had some fun stuff going on and Scarlett on the treadmill was fantastic :naughty Also, apparently in the not too distant future, ice sinks?

Well, they could always go the Ray Park way and say that, "I was extremely honored to portray such a significant role in America's pop culture history," further adding that there's a LOT of action in the film and close by saying, "You can expect the film to take the fans in a new direction." Nothing there is lies. Of course, now he can change the subject to his upcoming role on Heroes as a better diversion than reverting back to Darth Maul. :lol

Re: I know it's only 12 reviews, but I am a bit shocked!

I think this will be the most awesome movie ever. It will dwarf Star Wars and rival Lord of the Rings in cinematic impact. You know why?

Chris Eccleston.

:lol

You only like him cause he was a Who :lol

Re: I know it's only 12 reviews, but I am a bit shocked!

Just got back from seeing G.I. Joe. I walked into the theater like a slave, really. Couldn't believe I was there. Still mortified by the fact that I'd left the receipt for the pre-ordered ticket on my desk at work for anyone to see. Unbelievable. What could I have been thinking? I was so horrified of this film that I bought a 36-ounce cup of Amber Bock to help me get through it.

I. Loved. This. Movie. :rock

Everything was as it should have been. Ridiculously advanced technology? Check. Dastardly villains? Check. Hot combat-ready chicks? Check. Cameo in a Stephen Sommers movie by Brenden Frasier? Check. Awesome scenes with Snake-eyes and Storm Shadow? Check, check, and check.

It certainly beat all manner of hell out of Terminator: Salvation. And I'd have to say that, aside from Michael Bay's sense of visual style (which is excellent, albeit a bit tired), I enjoyed it more than Transformers.

Heck, I still can't wipe this silly grin off my face. :D

Suffice it to say that, contrary to the usual approach, I'm pretty sure that the trailer(s) featured all of the worst parts of the film. Give it a shot. It's worth two hours out of your life, believe me.

(Note: Do NOT make the mistake of expecting depth. You'll not find it here. Because you're not meant to.)

Re: I know it's only 12 reviews, but I am a bit shocked!

I have zero history and connection to anything GI JOE so this mini review isn't meant for the die hard fans, nothing I could say would alter their feelings towards this movie.

This movie kicked some serious ass!

I ^^^^ you not but I had a guy in his 50's sitting to my left who fell asleep during the beginning credits and who was snoring really really loud, 3 teen girls in front of me text messaging each other and giggling throughout the entire movie and to my right was a group of mentally retarded adults in wheelchairs with their guardians (not trying to be mean spirited here) all making incomprehensible loud noises.....

YET, I was able to enjoy the movie.......It was good enough that I was able to sit back and ignore my surroundings and just take the craziness all in.

THAT's how much bad assness was on display in this movie.

There was scenes in there that have never before been seen in any action movie, and the stuff that has been seen before, well....they took it to a whole new level.

An excellent and enjoyable spectacle!

It was like they combined James Bond movies, Ninja movies, War movies and Disaster movies and gave it a shot of massive amounts of steroids!

Heck, there was even some Star Wars thrown in there for good measure.

FUN!

I could, and have done, much worse with $10.00!

This is why stand alone items from a movie, be they character photos, scripts, interviews, blah blah blah need to be taken with a grain of salt until the final product is seen within the appropriate context intended, only then can a fair review be made.

Was it a perfect action movie? Is anything in life ever perfect?

Well, let me see....none of this could ever happen in real life....wait....I love The Empire Strikes Back.....crap....that really didn't happen.

Man this movie kicked serious ass!

:rock

I feel the same way even though I did grow up watching Joes in the 80s. The movie did kick ass!:rock

Re: I know it's only 12 reviews, but I am a bit shocked!

Really?
Transformers 2's running time was 10 hours, wasn't it? It felt like it anyway

Its weird because the movie was always moving....there was no breathing room. So hold your breath for one minute, and it'll feel like the longest minute of your life.

Re: I know it's only 12 reviews, but I am a bit shocked!

Sometimes I just enjoy not being a fan of something a movie is being made of and going in blind ready to have my brain introduced to everything for the 1st time.

I'm an adult enough to comprehend that there were silly, eye rolling, cringe inducing story aspects and scenes taking place but I already expect that in these type of over the top, throw everything on the wall and see what sticks type of movies so I just go along with the flow and hopefully the spectacle of the fantasy works for me and it certainly did this time around for me.

Immensely I might add! :rock

Sometimes I want a smart action movies, sometimes a dumb one and sometimes a combination of both.

This one is so different that it created and deserves it's own category. :lol

What an insane action movie and all I had to do was give up $10.00 for all of that enjoyment, hot damn!

Thank you Mr. Sommers!

P.S.

I haven't seen Transformers 2 but I have seen Terminator 2 and Wolverine and based just on the "action" component alone, GI wins......heck, even the story wasn't so bad either, meaning the BAD guys (and gals) were excellent at being Evil and the GOOD guys (and gals) were excellent at being heroes!
