Many have been asking for the PF and after SS has been saying for a long time that it 'wasn't currently in planning for development' I believe they have now said that it could figure into the 2012/2013 PF plans for LOTR.

I sure hope so, that's what I'm holding out for too!

Wow, I've been so busy doing OT at work that it totally slipped my mind that the full reveal for Gimli was today.

In a 1/11/11 Q and A in response to a question about the LOTR diorama line, SS responded "The diorama line has more or less transitioned into the LOTR statue series, which currently has excellent momentum."

IMO, this maquette has a very big dio "feel" to it it, especially the EX version with the felled orc.

I can honestly say i'm unsure at this point. Something just doesn't seem right. It might be the all-action pose, but for Gimli that shouldn't matter..... i think it's the face. I'd also prefer him to be shouting as he's leaping, mouth wide open...
I just think that for the money i'd be spending, i can afford to be careful about what i buy, and there's nothing wrong with the 2 SSW statues and the bust i already own.....
I don't know. I'd like to see some photos of it 'for real', at a convention or something. It'd be a shame to pass as i have Aragorn, and have Legolas on order. Hmm...

I'll be honest, something looks a little off to me as well, but I'll chalk it up to the angle of the pics. In some of those perspective shots, Gimli's arms look a little overly long and not proportionate to his body.


But I think this will look fine in hand...plus, with the lack of Gimli products, this is an order. The only representation of Gimli I have is the Legolas and Gimli on Arod statue.

I like it. However (unlike most it seems), I definately prefer the regular. As nice as the exclusive is, the orc just takes too much away from Gimli and the rest of the bas imo.

Gimli looks great overall.

But I am a little concerned about what the chinese painters will do to his eyes if the prototype already looks like that. And the chainmail will give them a headache for sure.

Really like the pose - makes him about the same size as the other characters although I can't shake the feeling that that rock was added to justify the price.

I mean that's 20 bucks more than Aragorn who's taller to begin with.

I was hoping for the same prize as Legolas at least.

Exactly!

...and I agree with one of the above posts, the ladder might be a bit much, looks a bit 'forced' IMO. Would look better without. We can all suspend our disbelief as to how Gimli got on that big rock pile for the sake of the art.

Yeah, seems a bit too much rock again, ala Gollum, to justify the larger price point. I was actually thinking Gimli might come in a the $225 mark or even slightly less. But, alas, I was wrong again...

Exactly. He's way too casual about it. Needs to be battle crying or something, put some emotion into the piece. Gimli was Gimli because he was dwarven nuts. I doubt he'd have that expression given what he appears to be doing. It's kind of crouching tiger hidden Gimli zen... Don't know how I feel about it. I really like the gold and silver work on the weapons and armor. But, we know that will certainly be less detailed if not slightly sloppy on the finished piece. I'll have to chew on this one for my part.

At first I thought the ladder was a cool addition but really it looks odd to the point I'd sign an online petition asking SS to remove it in the final produced item. The face also looks weird, the eyes in particular. In addition I find the pose looks best from the side where it looks like he is just about to leap from the rock. From the front, however, it all looks a bit flat. I highly suspect this is due to the pictures and in person will look much better (I'm thinking the initial take on aragorn here).

250 beans is too much. I think I'll pass and maybe pick this up later. The ex is cool but I don't know.
