WTF?!? I'd completely forgotten about this, which has taken so long to arrive that I no longer want it (it was due in the first half of 2009, and since I unexpectedly became a father again late last year I've been slimming my collection down!). Anyway, I've just tried to cancel my order and there's no easy way of doing it; I emailed them just now then checked the info page, which says:
There is a 15% fee on all cancelled pre-orders that are placed. We encourage you to pre-order your items in advance to help secure your item when it arrives in stock, but we ask that you be sure that you want the item before you place your pre-order. Cancellations must be received 10 days prior to ship date.
Again - wtf?!? There was no such policy in place when I placed the order, or if there was, I wasn't made aware of it at any stage during the order process, or I would never have gone through with it. I've changed all my card details on the site just in case, but now I'm worried they're just going to charge me anyway. It's completely up to a retailer if they want to specify a cancellation fee, but I NEVER preorder anything if I know there's one. Besides, the item was ordered in November 2008 with an eta up to 7 months after - it's actually taken double that time, or put another way, I've fathered a child who is now four months old in the time it's taken GoHero to make this! I kind of think expecting me to pay a cancellation fee is wrong when their ETA was so wildly out.
