Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

I never thought this looked any good. Smelled a bomb a mile away. Toy stores won't be able to get rid of all of the crap. They should have invested more into Indy or Batman instead of this dud.

I won't even go see this.

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

Yeah, the toy stores (especially TRU) are probably gonna lose their ***** on this. The toys weren't even moving before, and now the movie looks like a bomb.

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

I liked the visual look of the movie from the previews, but I figured this thing would bomb hard.

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

Well, I'll know tomorrow when I get to work.... I will know for sure by the end of the night how it's doing. I don't predict it to get as much business as Iron Man did.

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

I thought this movie was aimed at kids.

And you guys need to get over the fact that there are more Speed Racer toys than Indy or Batman. :lol

Make that more Speed Racer toys than Batman, Iron Man, Indy and Hulk COMBINED. :duh

Absolute insanity. They all deserve to lose their *****.

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

Some friends invited me to go see it, so I did. The movie was goofy as hell, but I still enjoyed it.

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

At first the trailer didn't impress, but later on it sorta grew on me. I'm no fan of SR and I despise anime, but I'm really looking forward to the movie. Hopefully I'll see it this weekend or next, but I'm def. in no rush. It just looks so visually appealing to the eye with all the colors and CG.

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

I don't think it's a big deal on the toy front... But the sheer amount of Speed Racer stuff boggled my mind when I went to TRU lately. It's really insane how much stuff they put out. They really are gambling on whether kids will like it or not... but whatever... their money.

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

What do they(Toys R Us) think this movie is? Pixar's Cars 2?? (Now that I can see them putting a butt load of 1:64 scale little cars out). But to answer the original question, I have not seen Speed Racer yet.

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

Havnt seen it yet but that's because it premiers in denmark on June 20th.

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

Looks too campy and cartoony.. and campy in the bad sense of campyness.

Army of Darkness and Buffy = Good campy

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

i've seen the trailers. while the graphics look awesome, from what i saw, it's impossible to see everything that's happening. there's just so much going on, the human eye could probably only comprehend 10% when passing the signal to the brain. just like the movie amadeus, "there's just too many notes!" :lol

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

Had nothing else better to do today, so I watched it. To be honest it was alright. The dialog was kind of poorly written...but the main thing is that it is more of a "kiddy" movie, which is unexpected because these guys made Matrix and V for Vendetta.

It was kind of hard to watch at the beginning because of all the neon lights, but the style fit this genre of movie.

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

Very much a kid's movie - except for the slow parts - but the kids in the theatre talked throughout both the action and dialogue scenes, so it's hard to tell if they were bored or excited. At one point one of the tiny motormouths screamed "Take'em Speed! Take'em!" during one of the races, so I guess he was excited.

And I have to say that I enjoyed the race scenes a lot from a purely video game, visceral point of view. I'm going to watch Nascar now that I know jump springs and loop'd'loops are part of professional racing. What's with all the "drifting" though - is that now part of pro racing too?

I have no investment in Speed Racer at all, I never could get past 5 minutes of the cartoon, but I did find this film a disappointment since Christina Ricci was wearing scanty clothes but I could only focus on the ghosts of her past treasures.

Re: So, has anyone else seen "Speed Racer"?

I can guarantee you, I will never see this movie in my whole lifetime.
