Finished it about an hour ago... EPIC!

I've read elsewhere on the net people moaning about the game, both it's tory and gameplay. Personally I loved every minute!

Guess you can't please evryone...

I don't understand how on any level that game isn't impressive. Up til now, Uncharted 2 was my PS3 world, but God of War has truly taken over. The only reason people can be disappointed in it, imo, is solely from their expectations. I mean this is the first game, really, that the expectations were so high. God of War 1 took everyone, and the industry, by storm. God of War II had alot of hype, but a lot of doubts as to if it would even be half as good as the first (since the first wrapped up the storyline so nicely), then Chains of Olympus had it's doubters due to it being on the PSP. This game is truly a gem, and I think as time goes on, more people will appreciate it for two reasons. 1) They have been waiting for this game for three years and only within the last month or two were they truly getting information about the game dished out, and 2) the ending. I noticed may people who didn't like it, didn't understand it. As they open their minds up a bit, maybe you'll hear less and less negativity. Also, alot of talk is from X Box fans who never even played it but just want to try to give it low ratings or diminish the great word of mouth. I mean, the game is still critically acclaimed universally and word of mouth on it is really strong. One of the most successful and consistent gaming titles out there.

The story and characterization in GoWIII is not impressive, and honestly I think GoWII is overall the better game when it comes to narrative, pacing, and level design. I think the graphics and scale are fooling people into thinking GoWIII is better than it actually is. It's great, certainly, but not the greatest.

Anyway, I've been replaying the game on the hardest difficulty, and I've been encountering some weird bugs or glitches or general messiness in the game, moreso than on my previous playthrough (in which I had encountered a number). I.e. Holding R1 to open chests sometimes fails inexplicably? Occasionally that happens. I thought at first it was my controller, but it only happens in GoWIII. Also, double jumping and gliding is so finnicky. Lastly, sometimes Kratos gets stuck in place during combat. During the giant scorpion boss I got stuck in midair when I was attacking the legs.

Has anyone else been experiencing any of these oddities?

The failing to open a chest happend to me on multiple occaisions. I thought it was just my finger comming loose on the button but several friends said they expireanced the same thing. I also got stuck in mid air for a split second during a battle when I had a bunch of enemies gang up on me.

Anyways I love this game as well as the whole GOW series desite some of it's plotholes (GOW2 is still one of my favorite games). I've been replaying GOW1 and I still love the scene when you get to Athens and you see a 2,000 foot Ares tearing the place up.

As strange as this may sound, I haven't even played GOW III as yet, despite having the Ultimate Edition for a week. In fact, my Ultimate Edition's still sealed inside the packaing box it came in :lol.

I'm currently replaying GOW II, and man is it an epic game and, I hope that GOW III exceeds my own expectations - don't care what anyone else says (eg. Tom McShea).

You guys should really play Chains of Olympus. Alot of the characterization and storyline (almost too much in fact), stems from that game. You'd be much happier about Kratos' change at the end as well. Athena was the only week character imo, but even still I like her stance at the end (she's the goddess of Wisdom afterall), and everything else is straight greek mythology.

The game is awesome and rock hard! I'd agree that GoW2 was the best of the series. It had the wow factor for me...
Anyway i'm stuck on this level just after you leave Pandora at the top of the labrynth and dive back down to the judges. I cant kill that lava cerberus or the 2 dog guys with the staffs. Any tips anyone? Its doing my head in

I had trouble there too. I used the Nemean Cestus to punch at the dog and I kicked the explosive ones back at it by grabbing it.

Once you cut off a head you'll have a Satyr to deal with as well. I just jumped and dodged around and used the Cestus' on the Satyr to kill that first. It's a pain in the butt. You can throw the little explosive dogs at it as well for some damage. After it is dead dodge and do damage to the big dog and cut off the second head.

Now you have two Satyrs and the dog to deal with. Get the two Satyrs in close and use the Army of Sparta magic you use with the Blades of Chaos. Make sure you tap the circle button when you use it for the arrows to fall during the attack. If you have enough magic to use it like four times then the two Satyrs should be killed by it if you hit them both with the attack. If not, they'll be weak and the Cestus' attacks should do them in. Then all you have to do is repeat what you've been doing to the big ugly pooch and you've done it.

Watch your health and dodge a lot. Kill the Satyrs first as they are fast and can kill you quick. Also watch for the smaller dogs as they explode and disorientate and hurt you.

Thanks dude!:duff Yeah just managed it! Used the normal chains, sparta magic, arrows and drop kicked a few of those pooches back which did the trick. Thats possibly the hardest part of the game for me. Took AGES!
Just at the battle with Zeus now. Hit another brick wall there so i'm gonna attack it with fresh eyes in the morning :D

Having just replayed GOW 1, 2 and Chains of Olympus, this game is definitely given the series a run for its money. I kinda missed seeing more gods last game.......correction: you saw them, but didnt really interact with many, except Zeus...so, that aspect of this game I am very much enjoying. Graphically, its stunning. Love seeing a lot of familiar creatures, but totally redone for the PS3.....

Definately. I love the way the Minotaurs look in this one.

The artbook shows the Satyrs - I am about 8 hours in.....dont recall seeing these in this game...love the skeletons....and it wad funny, until I replayed GOW 2, i forgot that game also had the skeleton design...

I am so tempted to get the Ultimate Edition. A friend of mine got it and the Pandora's Box alone is worth about $90. If I didn't have the HT Wesker on my to get list next month, I may have broken down and gotten it.

Yeah, I was on the bubble with this prior to it actually arriving, but it is such a cool looking set.....and I love the art book....glad I got it

Just finished this - very impressive. Do wish it was a bit longer though - and I have to say the puzzles weren't too tough to figure out...but still a very enjoyable game.

One reviewer site said all the puzzles were decent except for one.....wonder if they felt the one with the playstation buttons was the weak one? it was a little jarring seeing those buttons on the screen at first....but no biggie

Finally go to those pesky Satyrs....they make an appearance pretty late in the game.

I'm sure that's it. That's the puzzle that everyone seems to dislike because it is the PS3 face buttons. They are all real Greek symbols, so in a sense it's cool, but the colors make it lame.

And the Satyrs are indeed in it. I hate them. They are tough little *******s.

I think a lot may be blinded by the big flashy flare of GOW3. I thought the 2nd game was the best thing I've ever played. But it was just that initial excitement and hype, and when I went back to play it a few years later...it was totally lack luster.

I remember hoping on forums when 2 first came out raving like a little bewildered fanboy, but as time passed that feeling of excitement wore off. I can't help but feel with the amount of praise, a good majority is just that elation with first sinking your teeth into it.
