im guessing '84 has got to be done . its a popular suit that was never really recognized by bandai properly and G-fans have made that clear in the past

Well that's nice to hear. I figured the undermarketing of the '84 suit was indicative of it not being popular, as far as I can tell it's one of the least produced suits out of all of them. The Bandai does have room for improvement, the 1/400 Kaiyodo is immaculate, one of the best ever made. There's been some other good ones but unfortunately for me, they're too rare and came out to long ago to acquire or find. I'm still amazed and lucky I got the West Kenji kit, I haven't seen it for sale since and never saw it before.

Now, which ones are the smaller ones, and maybe are they smaller because there are other pieces that could form a set vs. the single suit pieces that are stand alone.

Gorosaurus, Gigan, Anguirus, Godzilla 2003, Godzilla 1968, Mothra and Minya are all in the larger 12 inch scale.

GMK Godzilla is the only one in the new smaller scale so far.

With all of those Destroy All Monster versions of various monsters, I'm actually thinking that they're planning on making a King Ghidorah from that film in the 12 inch scale.

Hmm, perhaps there's a Mothra and Ghidrah in the works for the GMK.

I'll probably still get the '89 even at a smaller size cuz it looks badass, but I'd love for a 12" '84, that's what I really hoping for, the Kaiyodo kit is perfection for an 8" scale, so something larger would be ideal.

i scored the last Kaiyodo 84 that was on ebay . that guy had all kinds of kaiyodo sakai goodness . i always felt there was a yearning for cool 84 collectibles maybe that was just my gut feeling . its just a cool suit. it would make a cool 12 or more inch figure . maybe bandai just likes going for the sure thing rather than taking the gamble on the cult aspect of it. i guess like nost companies . i myself liked the movie. i remember how excited i was when i had the VHS rental in my hand . the good ole days

I felt the same way about the GMK Godzilla. I really wanted him to be in the larger scale with the others, but I bought him anyway. I'm hoping they'll revisit him in the larger scale at some point down the line, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well, in the body of Bandai figures, their '84 is every bit as good as anything they've done, so I don't fault them for that, it's just not as good as an '84 could be, but most of their figures aren't as good as if someone else did the same suit. Bandai's good for affordabilty and variety with a pretty good quality, but they're not the company to go to for top notch reprsentations.

I don't chime in here much, but man, that X-Plus 89 ROCKS! :rock
And like Maulfan says, can an 84 be coming? I hope. And in 12" scale.
Very interesting to read so many other collectors want them in this scale also. Very promising.

Here's a question for you guys. Would you sell your entire Bandai collection of 8" scale figures from the late 1980s-2000s and focus on X Plus and other highly detailed Godzilla items? I'll probably never give up some of my large scale bandai figures like Super Premium, but I'm thinking about selling the 8" ones.

No, but that's because of price. If you could get these X-Plus pieces at $50 or less, maybe, but at the prices they are, I'm only going to get ones that depict suits I really dig, which is pretty much '54, '84 and '89/'91. If another suit is done where it really catches my interest, I might bite, but the 3 I listed I'm actually actively interested in X-Plus making, so now I'm 1 down 2 to go.

You're probably right. Everytime I think about it, I end up putting the thought in the back of my mind. I also like collecting all the different monsters from the films, so Bandai is really good for that purpose.

I wanted to have the evolution of Godzilla from 1954 through 2004 represented in figural form, Bandai allowed me to inexpensively do so.

Now, if I didn't already have the Godzillas I do, I might consider getting all the X-Plus stuff, but, where I only care about 1 representation of certain suits in my collection, there's no sense buying a more expensive one to replace one I'm already happy with, and pretty much, I'm now happy with all my Godzillas as far as getting that 1 of each, and now it's just about getting more cool ones of my favorite suits.
