While it probably won't look anything like the Toho Godzilla, just for the product possibilities, I'll be curious to see how the new American Godzilla turns out and if Sideshow goes after the license and rolls with it, could see dios, maquettes, some pretty cool stuff.

forget the new Godzilla flick , they should just get a Toho license and let it ride. i would love a 24 inch or bigger PF ... clicks heels three times

I'd definitely love to see a Ghidorah. I think X-Plus could give us a beautiful piece that is faithful to the true design, but it's definitely going to be very expensive. If it's in the 12" scale, and I hope it is, I'd expect to pay $300 for it easily.

it would be sick if they made it in scale with the 30cm series. it would be pricey but from what ive been seeing so far , it would be well worth it.

Well, I would imagine they have pursued the Godzilla license at some point, it's so big for merchandising, but if you look at it, there really aren't any American companies producing Godzilla, I'd imagine it's a trickier license to acquire than we might think, and especially where Sideshow's product would be competitive with other things. American Greetings are the only ornament makers so it's not like they're fighting in a market, but Sideshow pieces could conflict with X-Plus or Bandai or any other foreign manufacturers.

I agree that I'd rather Sideshow do the Toho stuff, but if the new film design is good, then I'm open for them doing anything Godzilla just because I'm impressed with their work on creature pieces.

I have this exact same sculpt of Gigan from X-Plus in the same 30 cm scale, but it's a vinyl figure. It came out around the end of last December.

mothra has a slight paint rub or paint miss on his mouth but an easy fix. i might try and get a rebate anyhow .:wink1:

as i was farting around i stumbled across the following images. apparently Stan Winston created an American Godzilla for Jan de Bont 's version of Godzilla before he quit because Sony would not approve his budget. for those like me who've never seen these pics can now imagine what could have been ??????

I posted those in the new Godzilla movie thread, I still have hopes that maybe something like that, or that actual design, will make it to the new picture. I'm just glad there's even a maquette and photos of it to see Winston's work, just being able to see his take on a beloved character is a treat. It'd be awesome if some collectible company could ever produce that design, but unlikely, as it's probably not covered under anything.

he certainly had the right idea . to me that would have been the perfect American Godzilla . I guess that is why he was the best at what he did . i would think that Sony owns the rights to that design . if not they should release that and his other monster designs that never made to the screen as the "What If line"

He definitely had a cool concept, it's along the lines of what I anticipated with American Godzilla, the same basic design, but using a more detailed and realistic approach to the actual details, which is what Winston seems to have done, I see a lot of similarities to real lizards and reptiles in his design, but it's still the 2 legged, upright creature Godzilla's always been.

X-Plus is pumping these out pretty quick. Here are some images of Godzilla 1964 and Jet Jaguar.

They're both listed as being part of the Large Monster series, which is the smaller series compared to the 12" sized ones like Gigan and Godzilla '68. Godzilla '64 has a preorder price of $180 compared to the normal price of around $100 for the smaller series, which makes me think the retailer might be mistaken and Godzilla '64 might be part of the 30 cm line.

Ok so these godzillas are out yet ? And how big are they exactly ? 12 inches ? They look awesome.

Here are just a few of My godzillas. I have a bunch of Bandai Godzillas as well as Hyper and Hi grade godzilla. But I also have two sons and they have overtaken all of them. Which is just fine. It's a blast watching them play with all of them.

Anyways these photos are pretty old and not the best.

This is my fav. Godzilla that I own. It's from Godzilla vs Mothra and it's my fav. version of Godzilla in the films and I love the closed mouth pose that this piece has. Just love it.

First model kit I ever put together and painted that was not a car. Not great but I thought it turned out ok.

My Xplus King Ghidorah and Mothra statues.

And Finally one of my all time fav. photos. I took this of my first born about 2 and a half years ago. I call it, "How to raise your child the right way"

Godzilla collecting is all about connections, the best stuff is overseas and best way to score it is get to know as many fellow collectors as you can to help you know what's out there and where to get it. I'd be clueless about these X-Plus pieces until they were long sold out if it weren't for this thread.

Ebay's been the biggest source for my Godzilla collection, lots of older, rarer items found and some newer but not as mainstream in the U.S.
