What the hell was that Gamera trailer for!?!

It was freaking awesome!

That was way more exciting than what G2014 was able to accomplish.

Yeah some of the cgi was shoddy, especially the kaiju shooting laser balls from his shoulders and the building exploding plus some of the "300ish" green screen effects stood out, but who cares, the energy on display was overwhelming!

Just WOW!

Need to rewatch that another 100x

Quick update on my Gigantic 2000.

I had to place his purchase on hold, my 3 year old Sears Kenmore fridge died and had to spend $1,100.00 (this time with extended warranty) 3 days before he was released for shipping.

Huge bummer, but that folks is life.

Hopefully I'll still be able to get him before he sells out at his "low" price, both versions look awesome, the purple and orange spines.

That Gamera trailer kind of bummed me out, actually. Anyone else think the image was so processed and touched-up that it looked almost like a cartoon or music video? I don't know, it's cool for a short clip like that, but I can't imagine watching an entire movie. It feels so overdone, so dense and saturated with artificial bells and whistles.
I really hope this isn't the direction kaiju movies are taking. Final Wars was bad enough, but yikes. Tokyo S.O.S could very well be the last of its kind.

I watched the trailer again and the overall picture quality reminds me of 300, but I like it overall, beats the studio lighting look of most of the Millennium series.

I liked the feel of the trailer. That vintage howl was great. The antagonist seems goofy and not very good cgi-wise. Will definitely watch this.

I'm more interested in how the style will be for Toho Cgi Godzilla 2016

Well yeah, I don't care about Gamera, I just see it as a glimpse at what's possible with Japanese cinema. I only follow Godzilla and the last entries in the franchise paled to the quality the Gamera trailer has shown. I don't expect the same 300 style and all, but the overall quality of Godzilla should be equal or better, otherwise why bother anymore and just leave it up to Legendary.

Its sad because the 95-99 Gamera films were better then almost all of the heisei and millenium godzilla films.

I'm more of a Godzilla fan than Gamera, but that trailer showed what's now possible post Final Wars.

The smoke and particle effects were outstanding.

G2014 showed very realistic destruction, this was hyper kinectic destruction.

I'm a big Gamera fan. That last trilogy was great. Looking forward to this one. Especially looking forward to the new Toho G film for sure.

That Ultraman trailer was also great and it's way more natural looking than Gamera, no 300 here.

But i'll say this, regardless which style one chooses Japanese Kaiju films are about to conquer in a way that the Millenium films failed to do.

I can now say that I feel confident Japan's cgi will deliver the goods big time.

There was palpable excitement just looking at Ultraman's ankle.

This Ultraman trailer looked like what Pacific Rim should've been like.

The thing that sucks is having to wonder when we'll officially see it in the US, I'm sure I'll find online bootleg but it may not come out here til 2017-2018.

One strange thing with these trailers, they're quite long for trailers and seem like a scene instead of a series of clips, is this normal in Japanese cinema now?

It really sucks that we don't get to see these on the big screen anymore. I loved going to see all the kaiju films as a kid.

The only Toho film I've ever seen in a theater is Godzilla 2000, I was only 2 in 85 unfortunately. I've also missed out on special screenings of Gojira when they've come out.
