Not trying to take anything away from it’s success in Japan but that is not going to save this franchise whatsoever especially if it drops above 60% as being projected on its 2nd weekend, ouch.

I’m really happy we got this movie I really am but lets keep it real this monsterverse is dead Maulfan, dead.

Had Kong 2 not been filmed already they would’ve cancelled it this week.

They rolled the dice and unfortunately lost, the turn out was super weak, 47 million opening now not even 49...ouch.

Marketing for this movie was heavy and expensive.

I wonder if this will have longer legs being summer JUST started today in southern US? I mean its been finals week for most school aged kids here. This weekend is the first weekend most folks have off of school.

Its one of the biggest vacation weeks of the year.

My family is a good example. We are seeing it Friday, as its the first we COULD go see it?

I understood that reference.

Fun movie! I thought the pacing was a bit uneven and a lot of it was outright silly (subs outrunning nuclear blasts, etc.) but it seemed that anytime I there was a lull something so insanely cool would happen that it'd put a huge old grin on my face all over again.

I have to say I enjoyed it and my kids did too. I absolutely loved all four of the main monsters and they really took me back to when I first saw them as a kid.

Perfect because it’s really just that a fun experience.

For me it blows away 14 and Kong Skull Island.

I’m still blown away that this even exists though so that helps with my enjoyment as well.

Since I only have time for 1 movie this coming weekend I’m seriously considering skipping DP and catching this again instead.

Sooo tired of Magneto’s shtick already brood help brood lol

I really want to experience this on a big screen... but I'm just not sure I can get to it before it disappears like you say. I may be doomed to seeing it for the first time on the small screen.

What was the best part?

It really does deserve a theatrical experience would be a real shame if you failed that hard lol

I might have liked Rodan's awakening the best. He's really the only baddie who took out civilians. Then the subsequent air battle/chase with the fighters was great.

It did have a pretty satisfying battle royale at the end too.

The movie as a whole is very "one note" but like John Wick the one note it hits it hits very well.

While I definitely would’ve loved to have seen KG eating people I was ok with just accepting that had he won the world was over with so death was always present even if we didn’t get to see it up close as much as we should’ve.

They should’ve had KG do the snap

Well it’s WB and WB and Disney or no longer playing nice with Netflix but make no mistake about it the budget is getting slashed really hard right about now and it just might go straight to WB streaming.

Sadly, I went to see Aladdin last Saturday and the theater was full, so it's no joke.

I did not like the movie, but clearly the rest of the audience did, including the incredibly annoying woman sitting right next to me.

I'd rather watch Godzilla 5 times, then watch Aladdin once.

I know. It’s just wishful thinking and bitter resentment

I couldn’t sit through beauty and the beasts over autotuned singing and I know I won’t be able to sit through Aladdins. So my one man boycott will have to suffice for now. I’m just gonna buy a couple tickets to Godzilla and not go. Take that Disney!

Thinking back on GKOM it really was a fun flick and I look forward to seeing it again (though once on the big screen was probably enough which is good since it will be gone in two weeks anyway, lol.)

If you haven't seen GKOM with Dolby Atmos you really should, the freaking audio of those monster roars was absolutely off the charts.

Are there cool collectibles for this movie?

When you say collectibles do you mean figures and such? Because they’re starting to come out now. Neca has Godzilla and Mothra our and the Monsterarts Godzilla just released.

There’s also a sweet vinyl album releasing in July. Got my PO in for that. It looks really nice!

The audience, especially my kids (lol), absolutely jumped out of their seats when the underwater team lowered the blast shields and G swam by the giant window with the sound only coming from the left and tracking across the center as he swam by. If this film wasn't made for Atmos I don't know what is.

Very cool! Yeah I was wondering what figures and statues and things there were. The four main monster designs were pretty much perfect IMO.

I researched all the changes they made in the new one it gave me too many silent head shakes. Then I listens to a few of the songs and couldn’t handle it. So I opted out. The removal of the snake did the biggest damage for me. How could you remove Jafars Thulsa Doom moment?! It was the kaiju of the Aladdinverse
