Of the 4 or 5 movies I've seen in the theatre this year, Avatar definitely left the biggest impression, so I'm glad it won whatever it won.

I don't mean to sound too dramatic or whatever, but that movie was a moment in my life where I will know exactly when and where it was that I saw it. Sort of how I remember seeing empire strikes back in the theatre so many years ago, remember it vividly.

Good for JC, hope his speech was appropriate.

I loved Avatar, but I don't think it deserved to win. Oh well, I don't mind.

Me neither. I think gervais may have been right on the whole "offical thing :p Best part about Avatars win was the reaction of Jason Reitman.

God I really hope it wins now to shut the haters up.

I don't think anyone "hates" it. I really enjoyed it - it was beautifully done - no question. Cameron has made a ground breaking film as far as special effects are concerned.....I just think there were a lot of great films out this year - they may not have the visual impact of Avatar - but they had top notch acting and better scripts, imo.

Awesome. They pick the most cliche film of the decade.

I hate this now. I was so for this movie, and excited, now I have to look on it with distain thanks to the retarded fanboys who have overrated the movie.

I still loved it. But jesus ____. It's not that goddamn good. I hope it doesnt win an oscar, sands for effects.

And where the hell is District 9? Way better then Avatar.

I really hope so. Don't get me wrong, Avatar was a great looking movie with dazzling effects and visuals. But there is more to a movie than just what you see. The story was old and predictable, and I don't think it deserved best picture or director. I don't even think it deserved to be in the nominations. But I geuss now a days it's now what you show but how you show it.

I hope it wins...but part of me wouldn't be surprised if Up in the Air won.

Yeah, I have that same feeling as well. We'll find out in about a month and a few weeks.

I wonder if we'll see a PhotoShopped Golden Globe next to the amp suit on SS front page tomorrow? heh

And i'm not trashing the movie. I enjoyed it emensly. One of my favorites of the year......but I hated how I knew everything that was going to happen....because it was so cliche. It had every single cliche beat in the book. And thats fine...I dont mind a cliche movie. But people are making this out to be the second ____ing coming...when it's not. And theres FAR more deserving movies, who had both great visuals, and a compelling story.

Hardly. D-9 is fantastic movie. I honestly dont get how anyone can hate it.

And stop using "haters". It's such a tired, overused word, mainly used by idiots. I LOVED Avatar. But I hate the fans who've blown it to a level where I'm ashamed to enjoy it. Being lumped in with those ____ers.

I still don't know of ANYONE who has said they hated Avatar. :lol Just because someone doesn't think it was the best thing ever, they are a hater?

I don't know why avatar won over the hurt locker. Avatar was ok, but it had a predictable and clumsy story. It was a fun ride, but to win in a category meant for downright serious films confuses me.
