This is all sorts of confusing. How can SSC justify making only 500 of these and then out of the other side of their mouth say that a 12" line is unsuccessful?

Your right. I am not normally ordering stuff for another 4 hours so this is sure to pick up after 6.00pm local time.

yep. the $30 made me stop and think. as did the fact that its $300 as opposed to something closer to $250.

HOWEVER I DID ORDER IT! *huge gasps from crowd that knows I'm a cheap ********.

What sold me was:

1)The idea that the alternate piece is displayable.
2)The limited editition is truly limited.
3)Even though I'm a 1/6th collector I know that making a custom 1/6th Gollum worth looking at will be impossible.

Edit: All that said, I am now realizing this will be nothing more than a glorified minibust.

I really love that they gave the base the height that was desperately lacking in the Frodo/Gollum diorama.

The NRD definitely had an impact on my ordering a second one, but the ability to display the alternate parts meant that I didn't need to box up the spare torso and never see it again. With the separate display base, the more I thought about, the more that two Gollum/Smeagol statues seemed like overkill.

Yep although it still would have been nice to display these back to back. Oh well unless one comes up cheap on the bay or LCS I may have to rethink my strategy.

I just happen to be at my computer today and not doing much so I checked in on the sideshow site, not expecting anything. I think most people check in on Thurs when the newsletter comes out, so this one appeared without any sort of warning. It will sell out, I wished I used my reward points but afraid to cancel... lol I know the policy is 48 hrs, but geez, it makes you want to keep everything you buy! So, no regular edition to this piece?

I pulled the trigger on this one. The LOTR films are some of my favorite of all time and I know Sideshow won't complete this line with all the humans so I figured this is the one single piece that would represent the franchise as a whole the best and could stand alone.

well, i broke down and ordered a second gollum pf...I want a full statue of gollum and a full statue of smeagol, not just a bust with the extra piece...
