In a way, yes.
This is on my radar. Ed Harris voices mission control
Obviously a throw back to Apollo 13.
Why did they bother going to these tremendous lengths to make everything scientific and realistic then cast Sandra Bollox and George (single expression) Clooney as astronauts?
Theres been way too much of that happening lately. Elyisium got great reviews from Duncan Jones and some other guys and that turned out to be way too mediocre for Neil.
Clooney can act when properly motivated. Descendants, O Brother, Burn After Reading... It's Sandra Bullock who bothers me. Everything I've ever seen her in she's playing that same overly nervous character from Speed and it doesn't look any differant here.
Actually Duncan only retweeted and responded to one of the UK critic's tweets about Elysium. I had shared them in the Elysium thread. Duncan himself hasn't posted his thoughts on the the movie yet.Theres been way too much of that happening lately. But I get what you are saying, just cause Cameron says it's great doesn't mean it will be actually great.
Anyways, some of the reasons and excuses people have given online not to watch this film seems genuine, sad and at times hilarious to me.
Many will avoid this film and then will continue to complain about the lack of original films in Hollywood. Again, this concept isn't original, but it's an original sci-fi film not based on existing properties.
I loved Children of Men and I will give Alfonso Cuaron a chance any day.
Because they are both box office draws and Oscar winners? That's just my guess.
