Just finished BN Catwoman and I though it was a good read. But that's only cause a) I'm a Batfan and B) I also read Gotham City Sirens. If neither of the above apply to you then save yourself the scratch. It does have a great cover by Adam Hughes though so that's icing on the cake. For those that still want to know what happens.....

Blackmask comes back as a BL and hunts down Selina only to find that she odes not fear him so he finds her unappetizing. BM decides to go after her sister who's in the looney bin to try to rile up Selina who on the way lights a flare and Ivy and Quinn show up (no foolin!). Ivy and Quinn keep BM busy while Selina finds her sister, there's showdown and Ivy summons a giant plant to and it eats BM (No fooling!) Selina's sister jumps a nun and vows to destroy Catwoman

I´m not that much of a fan, but I enjoyed it too.

You read BN: Power of Shazam? That one´s awesome too.

I haven't picked up a sidestory for a while. All of them seem like "Ah! Zombies!" and then noting really much more interesting. Can't wait for Green Lantern 50

LOL...but its true. And just about all of them come out after the main story moves along in the BN book.

At least the Catwoman tie in dealt with the Black Lantern Black Mask in a different way than just blasting them with green lantern mimic light like many of the other tie ins have done. And heck, Weird Western Tales was even more different!

Just finished Flash #2. Not bad, but there didn't seem to be enough action with him in it. I'm gonna read the GL Corps later after dinner, and I think I'll go pick up the Catwoman book one day this week.

GL 50 is next week its not the end of anything but it is an Anniversary issue, there is issue 51 and 52 already solicited. Blackest Night still has two issues left.

I read both GL Corps and BN:Flash 2. I didn't really like the story in GLC, it felt like a filler and the Mogo stuff made me roll my eyes. I absolutely hate the art of Scott Kollins, they look like preschool drawings but I loved the story in BN: Flash, loved finally seeing the Blue ring at work again and the backstory with the Rogues is fantastic.

GL 50 was pretty good. Its cool to see the Deputies in action. The whole Parallax coming back is lame IMO. Just ditch the big Spectre and go after Nekkron again. :duh

GL 50 was meh. The art was pretty good although I'm not a huge fan of Manhke but it was a standstill part of the story. I hated that when the four Lanterns were brought together the Michigan sticker was missing from Guy's and Kyle was completely wrong. I did like the Hal Jordan BL design but overall it was just a whatever issue. Didn't feel like an anniversary issue or read like one.

Yeah, what was with BL Hal for 2 seconds? That was just odd. It felt like an excuse for them to make a BL Hal figure to me. If you are going to do that, make it last more than 2 frames at least

I think the issue was great, I enjoyed it really much, especially since BN #2 there was no sign of the Spectre and the Stranger and last week I read BN: Stranger and there was the Spectre again. It was great, even if I´m not that into the Phantom Stranger, but the coming together with GL #50 was awesome.
But there´s gotta be a logic explanation later why the Spectre is afraid of Parallax.
That´s what I don´t get...

I understand the nostalgia and importance as a plot device for Hal to allow for Parallax to enter the picture again, but I was really, reeeeeeally hoping Sinestro would be the host for Parallax and harness the parasite as only Sinestro can (so he says, and I'm inclined to believe him :D).

Also some really nice dialogue with Atrocitus. Mera seems the only Red Lantern whom he accords such a level of respect. I liked the notion of Atrocitus seeking to subsume the Spectre into the Red Lantern Corps. Very nice twist there.

I'll admit it's taken quite a while for Manhke's art to grow on me. Just wasn't a fan of it initially, particularly the ways in which he rendered Sinestro and Larfleeze. Seems he's come quite a good long way with Sinestro at least. What he does seem to do is convey both the emotion of individual characters and large scale action equally well, which isn't all that common. So his art's growing on me like a friendly little tumor. :peace

I figured the explanation for the Spectre being afraid of Parallax was just that he could sense the immense power intrinsic in Parallax. I always thought it seemed like a bit of an odd cop out in "Rebirth" for the Spectre to just up and leave because he didn't like Hal bossing him around. The "I'm taking my ball and going home" approach wasn't what I would have expected from the Spectre in a battle which could have cost the lives of countless innocents if Parallax won out. This at least seems to cinch together a few loose ends I've had flailing about in my mind for a while.

I've only been reading the main BN books, but I may have to check out anything with Mahnke art. I used to think he was a little rough around the edges, but he reminds me of a perverse George Perez. He has insane detail and line work, but there is something always "off" about his artwork. I loved his art in Superman 3D!

That would be the thinking with the upcoming Black Lantern Batman figure. Although I wouldn't mind getting a BL Green Lantern shirt, I like the design of the chest emblem.

Re-read Green Lantern: Rebirth. Spectre's decision has been retconned of choosing Jordan as his host wasn't because he's worthy, but because of trying to destroyed the fear entity Parallax, which was infecting Jordan's soul ever since it was freed from Oa's Central Power Battery. After the Spectre was able to purge the Parallax from Jordan, he departed in order to move onto the next recipient of the Spirit. While Jordan was Spectre he wasn't an Agent of Vengeance but one of Redemption. The black rings latched themselves onto Crispus's body, turning him into a Black Lantern and sealing the Spectre inside its host.

The Spectre's real nature despite of being influence by the black ring is one of rage and vengeance. The fear comes from the spirit knowing that it expelled Parallax from Jordan and he is back in exactly the same state as he was before which drew Spectre to Jordan in the first place. It is a sign of him being unsuccessful and shows that Parallax can overpower Spectre's own power. Remember that Parallax wanted Spectre in the first place because of his ability to transverse time and space as well as his powers into the other side not necessarily because Spectre himself was more powerful than Parallax.

I was really, reeeeeeally hoping Sinestro would be the host for Parallax and harness the parasite as only Sinestro can (so he says, and I'm inclined to believe him :D).

Sinestro has controlled Parallax before while he was imprisioned and when he wasn't. He could easily host the entity without much problem. The reason why Jordan can't allow it and why the precautions were taken to split him into four lanterns was purely because Sinestro has so much power and control over fear that adding Parallax would simply supercharge him and make him almost unstoppable.

I will take the art of Mahnke over Kollins, I friggin' hate Kollins' work so much.

Exactly why I was hoping they'd have him join with Parallax for Blackest Night. I understand why, from Jordan's pov, they wouldn't want Sinestro to be super-powered with Parallax, but it still would have been very nice to see Sinestro/Parallax cut loose on the Black Lanterns as one.

For us it'd be spectacular although I fear what they'd make the combination look like but from the continuity point of view I don't know how they'd be able to stop a Paranestro or Sinellax after they handle the Black Lanterns. Hal nor Kyle can receive Ion due to their Parallax contaminations and furthermore Ion is the only think keeping Sodam Yat alive with the Daxam situation. The only other entity that we know of is Predator (The Sapphire Entity) who hasn't chosen a host and there isn't a power level known to it. A Sinestro/Parallax combination might be worse for the Lanterns than Nekron himself.
