Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Given that the film is currently getting a 24% on Rotten Tomatoes, Hot Toys probably should have waited another week to see how the film did before announcing it as a license; its unfortunately one they probably should have skipped.
:panic:

I think Hot Toys got way too carried away with license announcements last year, especially knowing that 2012 was going to bring The Avengers and Dark Knight Returns. Sucker Punch, Tron and Metal Gear Solid probably should have been canceled, too.

The movie stunk, but even I'm a bit disappointed that we won't get to see what Ht would've done with the suit.

"TRON: Legacy" didn't stunk but still...
They just aren't ready to use such technologys in mass production.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

Tron: Legacy 1:6 figures were supposed to light up (shelved), these from the quotes were supposed to light up (canceled). It seems that HT was banking on the fact they'd be so innovative to overcome the poor receptions, banking on people wanting the figures because they are cool and breaking the fanbases. If they could have gotten either one of those off of the ground where the suits lit up with their sculpts, I'm sure they would have had a huge selling based on the look of the figure alone and since they couldn't they are just shelving them instead of release sans gimmick because they don't have faith in the licenses.

The box office had nothing to do with them not making the figure, it has everything to do with them just not putting a figure for the figure's sake. They could have done a Sam Flynn or Quorra or Hal and Sinestro in basic TT with suits over, rubber, cloth or even hard plastic like Iron Man but rather toss them off instead. HT was banking on these being the new "Predators" where the figures overcome the films and when they saw they wouldn't be able to do it, walked.

Keep it open for the inevitable reannouncement.

Even on 1:6 figures, Sideshow's paint apps on human heads are still not up to par a lot of the time. That is what concerns me about relying on them for a high-end 1:6 Green Lantern.

After the inevitable Enterbay announcement this will be given top priority! :lol
