Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

Was pretty much the only license i wanted figures from, this was finally something NEW and it gets canned.

Why are they such a boring company, releasing mostly the same licenses over and over

I wanted a GL also. But HT is far from a boring company. Yes they release and re-release some figures that some would consider a boring act, there is no other company the releases the variety of figures like HT.

Avengers ( 7-8 different figures )
Batman ( at least 5 different figures )
Superman
Metal Gear
Predator
Terminator
Indian Jones
Avatar
Sucker Punch
Michael Jackson
Resident Evil
Pirates OTC
You can be pissed that they cancelled the one figure you want, I am too. I didn't mind the movie and would have love a Reynolds GL. But not everyone thinks they are boring for cancelling one figure.

:exactly::goodpost: Hot Toys certainly aren't boring, yes they release figures from the same lines but that's because collectors are still lapping them up but they have also offered a number of other lines that others haven't.

I wasn't a fan of Begins, The Dark Knight lines so didn't purchase but I'm stoked for the Batman '89, Returns and Arkham line up :rock Same with Avengers, First Class etc. So I'm a happy HT camper.

It's the cash cow lines like Batman and Iron Man that help build funding and pay for other lines to be developed like MGS, Sucker Punch and the like.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

^ to be fair nearly all of those are what they've done or used to do, not actively doing :lecture

The ones currently active are mostly licenses from the same franchises with the same or related characters.

The only truly fresh licenses are X-Men, MGS, Sucker Punch, Avatar, Star Wars and i think that's it.

The rest are figures from sequels, prequels or past licenses. So boring, stale, stgnant are all apt identifyers.

No it isnt, if that was the case they'd be making more than just one or two figures from them :lecture

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

I knew GL was not going to be made. I am disappointed, but did not get my hopes up. Maybe if WB does reboot it in the future, it will have a chance. Otherwise, I agree the only other chance is if Enterbay announces they are making it, then HT's will stop all other production and make it.

Well no, they are still a business, they won't release a line of figures if they aren't sure they will sell :lecture I wouldn't fund all 4 figures from Sucker Punch without some sense that they will all sell like hot cakes, I will split my risk over a couple of lines like Sucker Punch and MGS, releasing 2 figs from each.

To be fair the licenses they have are pretty big, with multiple films, spin off's etc so it's understandable they will continue to have focus on those lines whilst dabbling in others :dunno

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

If you want something outside of HT cashcows on this board, you're treated like the enemy :slap

Interesting how you didn't like it when you were singled out because you were so upset about GL getting cancelled, yet you're quick to try to dismiss me when I tried to defend what I like.

Like I said, I like every Marvel and DC 1/6 HT figure made. I'm sorry if some of you don't like that I am vocal about it, but oh well. I far from think they are perfect and they are definitley too expensive. But its my money and my opinion. I'd love another company to come along and make better figures. That will be great for all collectors. Until then, its HT for me.

I didn't single you out at all and i certainly didn't dismiss your interests.

I simply stated that Hot Toys current figure plans are the same or related to the same franchises they've been doing for a while now and in that sense they are boring as it's all so familiar and samey with the fresh licenses the least developed

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

100% disagree. You could have light-up features identical to Iron Man and they still would've gotten the "that's cool as hell!" audience. All the "technology" they need was already produced by them. The whole figure didn't need to light up, just the chest and ring hand. Another reason why I'm thinking this might just be BS.

If this figure only had a light up chest and power ring, it would have been a MAJOR pass for casual GL fans who thought the movie was a turd...cause it was. No one would have bought it who didn't 1. Like the movie and 2. only causually gives a crap about GL or even Ryan Renolds (La ******) if HTs engineering execution was simply to light up his chest and power ring ala Iron Man.

The design is...interesting. Not great, imo. But interesting. If they made it pulse and glow similar to the way it did in the movie, I would have jumped on board with a ton of other folks who would have bought it just because the figure was innovative engineering wise. Without that factor, this figure does little better than the movie. HTs apparently saw the writing on the wall and realized that if they couldn't make the figure more interesting than the movie, or at least be uniquely creative with the lighting on the figure, they were going to lose money on it. This really isn't the type of figure you half arse anyway. You either go hard, meaning spending same major cash on R&D to get it as close to the movie effect as possible, or you can it. Unfortunately, it, apparently, got canned.

Really, this is no different than what Sideshow has chosen to do. They use to make many different 1/6 scale licensed figures. Now they only make GI Joe and Star Wars 1/6th products. They completely consolidated that part of their product offerings to just 2 licenses that make money...Hot Toys is basically following that model as well. Not so good for us collectors, but it does work cause those licenses do sell.

It sucks if you're a GL fan that this line has been canceled.
Funny,Hot Toys can make different Iron Man figures and Batman figures but they couldn't pull off one GL?
I'm glad the two Suckerpunch girls were made before anything like this happened to them.

Hot Toys are releasing Amber as well?

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

Well on the bright side, the CGI should be a million times better next time around. While they're at it, bring on Yellow Lantern Sinestro!!! I just can't see DC giving up on this. He's too big a character and they must know it was their fault the thing barely made it's money back (did it?).

Plus, the more Marvel succeeds, the more it's gonna light a fire under them. GL should have been a homerun! Maybe they can get some momentum if TDKR and MOS come in strong.

It really feels like an election year doesn't it? "A vote for my movie and I'll help support the GL initiative..." lol.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

June or July at last check :wave

Oh, why didn't they show her in the announcement about finally releasing delayed figures...?

But all of those figures in their announcement weren't going to be released in the same month were they?

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

Not exactly at the same time, i imagine they chose most of those figures as they (aside from Noland) were the most delayed of all their current figures, so having them all their in the shot was probably to assure customers they will in fact release.

They all (aside from Noland) had been delayed several times, they were supposed to release around October last year except the Lightcycle which was August.
