Did anyone see Keith Kopinski's Green Lantern? He is also sculpting him superior or let me say overblown...

After Spidy's comments I went and googled a bunch of Hal Jordan pics and he is often drawn with overblown definition, but not to the extent they have his intestins or whatever that is drawn. I think that is what is so off putting about this statue to me.

Don't drop out of school

And yet none of that looks like what is crawling around GL's abs, looks a lot more like this:

but then again, we can't all study anatomy while living in our mom's basement ;-)

It is the internal and external obliques that you are talking about csi, but they are NOT nearly as defined in the picture above as they are on the GL statue.

Oh and I didn't study anatomy while living in my moms basement. In fact I did it while pulling down a damn good salary, sleeping next to a beautiful woman, and working as a science teacher. It was just spare time stuff.

I love the Internet, we can all pretend to be someone important. :hi5:

Wtf... your the one who can't differentiate between the digestive system and the muscles making up the midsection.

And your a troll, what's your point? I never claimed to be any sort of anatomy expert. I'm not one of those guys who feels he needs to pretend to be to make his opinions seem more important?

What did I say about arguing anatomy with him dude.

:dunno. If you would like to point out where I claimed to be any sort of expert let me know, that seems to be you gig. If my intelligence is in some way diminished because I haven't taken the same anatomy classes you claim to have, then you will have to forgive me. However, my lack of anatomy intelligence doesn't diminish the fact that the GL statue doesn't look normal, and in my opinion, emphasis on opinion because I am obviously not as knowledgeable as you are, not worth half the price they are asking for it.

I'm very important to those who matter to me, and that is all that matters really. As for being an expert in anatomy, I am not even close to being an expert. I don't know all the names, and my knowledge is FAR from perfect, but I have a passing knowledge on how the muscles look when they are moving, and a pretty good knowledge of proportions. In the end I know more then most, but I am still learning.

Csi personally the one who is trolling at this point is you. I am sorry I pissed you off before, but I am kind of tired of you trying to insinuate that I have said my opinion is BETTER then yours because I haven't. Dude in the end YOUR opinion is as valid as ANYONE else's. If you disagree with me that is FINE, but just don't have to be a jerk everytime yours and mine are different. This isn't a pissing contest.

two things, I genuinely asked your opinion as to why this particular statue passes your anatomy perspective in a positive way, when you were more critical of other pieces. I asked because I was curious, and I get crap like this:

What did I say about arguing anatomy with him dude.

and this when you felt the need to respond to my post to someone else who was trolling

Your the one who keeps bringing up your art and anatomy knowledge. Hell, you gave a full page lecture on the subject with pictures of nude male sculptures. I never claimed to have any sort of training in either area. But lesson learned, don't ask Spidy for his opinion, he'll beat you over the head with it.

Second, I wasn't insinuating :nana:

I kid, I kid :inlove

The Superman PF shown on the right of this pic done by Andy B. is a far better example of a balanced approach to anatomy IMHO

plus it will be covered with cloth which will tone it down a bit. I honestly think the GL was originally intended to as well, but for whatever reason they couldn't make it work.

Okay, point taken, i will try not to take things so on the chin. Please understand though i am not really trying to be a know it all *********. I love to share knowledge and get knowledge it is how I grow and learn. When I was talking about Michaelangelo's David it wasn't in an effort to say "look at me this is how smart I am" it was me going " look at this really cool technique!!". Csi, I am nothing special in the art world, but I love art and try to learn to better my own pencil and paper work, and I love to share cool stuff. I am actually sorry if it comes across as being a know it all prig, but it is honestly not how I meant it. I will try to be less touchy.

As for GL, honestly I am not sure WHY my attitude has change. It actually may be totally based on my love of GL, and the fact that since the altered how the figure sits on the base it just seems more solid and heroic. The back anatomy still looks jacked to me, but it is what I said about viewing angle. This is the angle I would be displaying him at ...

... And seeing it under natural light like this pic shows lessens the more extreme nature of the anatomical exaggeration. At least IMHO.

Yeah, Andy B is a superior sculptor, and he just has a knack for knowing what to show and what not to show.

I seems to remember you saying this before, and I agree. It makes way more sense that the GL anatomy would be exaggerated if there was a uniform placed over it then simply painting it with a shinny coat of paint. Honestly, I was wondering if they had a problem putting a uniform on him in fabric form.

However, in the end I am still on the fence with GL. I have considered flexing this, and if the in hand pics fall short converting my payments to something else like say the Superman PF.

Ya, that one. If only they put the exclusive construct on his left arm instead of the right, it just doesn't make sense on the right arm.

no, the construct on his left hand would make no sense, seeing as his ring is always on his right hand.
