I played it four about 30 minutes and I am anxiously awaiting the opportunity to engage in some sort of criminal activity. So far I drove my cousin to the garage, picked some girls up and drove them home, went shopping for some new clothes, and then went on a date and went bowling. All of that in between various 7-8 minute long cut scenes.
I know that it will pick up, I'm just surprised that it didn't start with more of a bang. There was one fight sequence so far, but I wasn't playing at the time--it was just another cut scene.
(Can you tell that I don't like sitting there watching cut scenes? Some of the scenes in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance were great because they were separately produced and had the quality you would see in a fully CG theatrical production like Beowulf, etc. But when they just use the basic in-game rendering the quality just isn't there in the same way.)

Kain...found out what the cash you earn in multi player is for......it has to be earned in ranked games and the money you earn goes towards a grand total that determines your level, and levelling up unlocks new clothing options

This one ^^^^ing mission is pissing me off. First let me say while this game is awesome, the control mechanics can screw you over at times. For example on this one mission I have died numerous times for reasons that shouldn't happen.
-One is that while in cover I started getting shot by some dudes, I tried to get out of cover and run away from them, instead Niko got out of cover and ran toward them? (control stick was pushed in opposite direction)
-Two, I was on top of a building sniping certain targets. When I turn around to go and get back on the lift to take me down to the ground, Niko keeps moving forward and rather than turn onto the lift he walks right off the edge.
-Three, I was in cover battling some dude across from me who was also in cover, I go to throw a grenade where they is nothing it can bounce off of and yet somehow it hits the light post right in front of Niko and lands next to Niko. I try to exit cover and run, BUT THE MOTHER ^^^^ING CONTROLS DON'T DO ^^^^. So basically after constantly trying to get out of cover and run, right when Niko stands up out of cover (finally) the grenade explodes.
So yeah, I have had this problems with other various things as well. The controls seem to be a bit delayed at times, also when you let go of walking or running in one direction Niko will not stop immediately, he may continue moving for a split second or more. But these are just some that happened today all in the same mission at different parts of the mission, which seems cursed because every time I replay the mission and get further the stupid control mechanics cause me to die. This ^^^^ happens to when I am just messing around.

Thanks Karma I had forgot about that I have a 4 day weekend so I know what I will be doing.
GTA is sometimes pure evil, and not for any of the reasons the anti-gamers want people to believe. Most veterans of the series could write pages about all the weird, glitchy stuff they've encountered, some of it specific and some purely random. Sounds like the game is trying to mess with you big time.
When crap like that happens to me I often just leave it alone for a while, then come back later and try out a new strategy. That usually works best. I've shattered a few controllers in my time, so I understand your frustration. The good news is that you can almost always find a way to trick the game by coming up with a new strategy when it tries to mess with you like that. May take a bit of patience, but you'll find a way. Hang in there.

hehe, good words there. Thats what I am doing now, I am just concentrating on other missions and hanging out with friends to get privileges and so on. Then I'll go back to the mission in due time. Just gets annoying from time to time.

This was pretty cool, I am only up to the part where you shift house. Not much of a spoiler there. Anyway, I accidently went over a bridge and landed in the river between the the top island and the main island which is still on gaurd by the cops and it hasn't opened up to me yet. Anyway, I swam to the other side and what geting chased buy a boat and had the full wanted level. Anyway got to the other side and there were no cars to jack or anything I was evenually killed, but dame it was fun and exciting. I'm currently working for Brucie & Manny, how long until i get to the main island.

That one took me about 5-6 tries. Very frustrating. I quit trying to shoot him while driving the bike. Just chase him till he meets up with his buddies and they stop. Take them all out.

Yeah That's what I did. Shooting whilst driving is in the too hard basket for me.
