Can't really argue with your points and this is why i'm looking forward to hanging my hat on the MCU after the big finale in IW, which will be quite the cinematic accomplishment if you ask me.

Fully filmed in Imax spectacle that will be.

If they land with IW the MCU will be nothing to be ashamed of.

Same with SW, after E9 and with a great RO i'll have all the SW i'll ever need.

Han's movie as well as all the other side stories they can do whatever they want I won't be paying attention like I am now with E8/9.

Aw **** jye I just watched an interview with Mark Hamill where he said he was so disappointed reading the end of the TFA script because when he got to the part where his lightsaber flew past Kylo he assumed that HE would be the one to catch it and that it would be this mindblowingly amazing reveal of Luke Skywalker coming to set things right. Can you imagine if they did that?? Same music and everything but with Jedi Master Luke holding the saber instead of Rey. :panic: :thud:

That'd be cool.

But this was cool too.

:lol

The best scene in the movie and now I'll forever wonder how it would have played with Luke catching the saber instead of Rey. I can't even imagine the audience reaction. :horror They could have just had his mechanical hand come into frame to grab the hilt, then show Kylo's "oh ****" reaction, then full Luke reveal. He works over Kylo, slices him up, then the ground opens between them.

Luke kneels down next to Rey the way Ben did after the Sandpeople encounter. The Falcon arrives, Chewie carries Finn while Luke carries Rey into the ship.

They could have saved Rey's victory over Kylo for their rematch.

Michael Rosenbaum is no stranger to the superhero. After a ten year stint as arguably the best Lex Luthor outside the comics, the Smallville star even came close to landing the role of Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. That role going to Chris Pratt seems to have worked out for the best for everyone though, now that we know Rosenbaum was brought aboard his friend James Gunn’s cosmic sequel, releasing in six weeks time. Interestingly, unlike Gunn’s other actor buddy Nathan Fillion, Rosenbaum’s role seems to be more than a cameo appearance. Much more, for that matter, and it looks like we may have some more clues about Stallone’s role too.

Let the speculation begin!

What are friends for if they can’t give their friends roles as major Marvel cosmic characters? @mrosenbaum711https://t.co/ChqZQp***5

— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) March 18, 2017

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 recently screened for Marvel employees, so the news was bound to get out sooner or later (Non Disclosure what? Secret Marvel SWAT Team who?) Gunn took to revealing it on the aforementioned Adam Carolla show, where he mentioned that a couple of characters who were “very important to the Marvel universe” would be making their debut in the Guardians sequel, and that “[his] friend Michael Rosenbaum also has a pretty decent role in the movie as well, and it sort of works in tandem with Sly’s character.”

I’ll be honest, unlike most times something like this is announced, I’m at something of a loss here. I’m going to still throw ideas at the wall (I assume one of these is bound to stick), but having little to no idea who these supposed “major” players are is kind of exciting, especially for the cosmic corner of the Marvel universe.

First instincts would suggest Rosenbaum is playing Adam Warlock given the presence of Ayesha (Warlock’s female replicant), though one has to wonder what role this McGuffin Jesus could play in Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel given that unlike Warlock in the comics, The Vision is now the one with the Infinity head. He could also just as easily be Mar-Vell, Marvel’s original Captain Marvel as a means to set up Carol Danvers, but that too is somewhat wishful thinking.

I guess if we’re going to speculate, we may need to take both Rosenbaum’s and Stallone’s roles into account. On one hand, Stallone could simply be playing a Ravager, but there were also reports of him wearing something similar to his Judge Dredd outfit, which sounds suspiciously like he’s a member of the Nova Corps. Could they each have the mantle of Nova, as Richard Rider and Sam Alexander? Or two consecutive Quasars? For that matter could Stallone be Marv-Vell, and Rosenbaum be his son Genis-Vell?

Maybe those connections are a bit too direct given Gunn’s phrasing (the roles “sort of work in tandem”), so perhaps it rules out my balls-to-the-wall fan wish of Stallone being the Galactus to Rosenbaum’s Silver Surfer thanks to some post-Fant4stic rights squabble. Hey if Kurt Russell can play EGO THE LIVING PLANET, nothing’s impossible. Although, the more realistic possibilities are a tad less exciting to anyone except people with a deeeeep knowledge of Guardians history. With a version of Yondu now in the fold, it’s entirely possible Gunn might be trying to incorporate some of the original 31st-century Guardians from the ‘60s and ‘70s into the movie timeline – Starhawk, Charlie 27, Martinex, maybe even a modern Guardian like Bug. Take your pick.

Hell, let’s all put money down, and whoever guesses correctly can choose where we donate it. Five dollars says Rosenbaum is Noh-Varr/Marvel Boy, and an additional five says Stallone is Kree A.I. The Supereme Intelligence. Yes, I know they’re different versions of the same character, but I’m not winning this bet anyway. Who’s your pick?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arrives May 5th, or a week earlier if you’re a show-off. Speculate away in the comments!

I remember reading a description somewhere about Stallone's character that he was some kind of bounty hunter. The way it was described lead me to believe he's playing Titus, a member of the Supernovas, a black-ops faction of the Nova Corps. Just heard about Rosenbaum a few days ago, no clue on his character, but I hope it's Warlock.

Of course Stallone as Galactus & Rosembaum as Surfer is beyond impossible, but... now that I read it, I can't get it out of my mind... Maybe they're the G3K? Stallone as Charlie-27 & Rosembaum as Star-Hawk or Vance Astro? But apart from Vance, Charlie ain't that important in the grand scheme of things. Maybe Rosem's Adam Warlock or The Runner & Sly's... dunno, Mahr-Vell?

Which do you want

A Stallone sounding Galactus would be epic lol

In the MCU? Corny Galactus with the miniskirt, for sure! If a reboot happens, I'd be down for a mix. Galan creates the Gah Lak Tus Swarm, but it eventually gains sentience and things spiral out of control. Mix the Ultimate origin with the Reapers from Mass Effect, and have Galan be the akin to the Leviathans from ME.

Doesn't FOX own Galactus and Surfer though? Pretty sure no deal was ever made there.

Yeah, that's why I said it'd be impossible. Rosembaum would make for a great Norrin though.

Translator... not... working..

Done right, the Gah Lak Tus Swarm would be ****ing terrifying on film.

This pic always gave me the chills back in the day. And it's a pretty nifty concept. For clarification, the Reapers in Mass Effect were created byt the Leviathans (ancient aliens) to monitor life. Eventually they got way out of hand, and started killing organics when they became advanced enough. The Gah Lak Tus Swarm is pretty much the same thing, but it predates them.

Ellis' Gah Lak tUS trilogy is worth a read IMO.
